I mean it’s still very early in the season, even if you do believe no contract has been offered it doesn’t mean talks aren’t being had. Could simply be trying to work out how best to structure it for both player and club. Not keen enough to offer a contract.
Wonder what discussions have been had or are both parties happy to just wait to the end of the season?
Player as a RFA will want a decent deal. Clubs prepared to pay more if they get him for free as a RFA.
And yes, Hawks looking at better targets and need the picks.
Looks like both parties acting very commercially. Club obviously doesnt rate him high enough to be a priority signing.
2 years ago I'd have told you where to go if you suggested Worpel to the Cats. I think he'd be a good fit now though.I can't see him leaving Hawthorn... But would take him at Geelong
Perhaps we can work out a more farm-end-loaded deal?Looks more like Hawks need to align on other deals before locking in Worpel’s contract to be front-loaded, back-ended etc.

Neither can I, and up until about 18 months ago I wasn't interested either. But now he'd be a great fit and would be good to throw a contract at him anyway. Who knows. Can’t see him leaving.
I’m sure you'll be crucial to the whole process going forward.Neither can I, and up until about 18 months ago I wasn't interested either. But now he'd be a great fit and would be good to throw a contract at him anyway. Who knows.
I can only see him leaving if Hawthorn pulls something huge this trade period which I see as likely. Sam is not going to wait around and will aggressively look to improve the listCan’t see him leaving.
I doubt he leaves even if that happens.I can only see him leaving if Hawthorn pulls something huge this trade period which I see as likely. Sam is not going to wait around and will aggressively look to improve the list
I doubt he leaves even if that happens.
Word from someone close to him is that he has no intentions to leave.
Most likely the one we finalize with him. What contract is he going to sign?
You would think teams will be coming with 850000 plus in this market.
Be rude not toSam Maclure saying Worpel will go to Geelong as a free agent. Geelong made a deal that Hawks wont match.
All true but you cant afford him in your salary cap. Everyone could see this except for Hawks fansMost likely the one we finalize with him.
He has no reason to leave, he’s first picked each week, he loves the coach, he loves the direction of the club.
Geelong can't afford him? I dunno about that. All true but you cant afford him in your salary cap. Everyone could see this except for Hawks fans
McClure says a lot of things...Sam Maclure saying Worpel will go to Geelong as a free agent. Geelong made a deal that Hawks wont match.
Apparently, we still have plenty to spare (up to $2 million) because of years of forward loadingAll true but you cant afford him in your salary cap. Everyone could see this except for Hawks fans
A few more saying it then him. Reid and WC was just a him only thing.McClure says a lot of things...
WC won't pick Harley Reid? Sure mate.
Apparently, we still have plenty to spare (up to $2 million) because of years of forward loading
Or is it Butters? If this is true the hawks are preparing for Reid beautifully
Clearing cap space from a B grader in Worpel and getting a compo pick to bundle up with their Carlton 1st rounder and get reid. Get it done hawks
You continue to be completely wrong about everything. All true but you cant afford him in your salary cap. Everyone could see this except for Hawks fans
You said Worpel was no chance of leaving? How was I proven wrong here given its now a chance? You continue to be completely wrong about everything.
Never said he was no chance, so again, you’re wrong. You said Worpel was no chance of leaving? How was I proven wrong here given its now a chance?
Not sure Geelong can either. The house/pub/farm/cotton on package may be enough to get him thoughAll true but you cant afford him in your salary cap. Everyone could see this except for Hawks fans
