Recommitted Jamie Elliott [Signs until 2027]

Looks like Dimma is keen on Elliott. We know he's shown interest in joining Brisbane in the past so perhaps he'd be open to a Gold Coast move now that we're seemingly contending. I believe he lived in Queensland when he was younger and one of his brothers lives up here so there's a few reasons as to why Elliott may be interested in heading north. Time will tell.

Collingwood should just pay him what he wants each time so that we can avoid this charade that he’s in serious talks with other clubs.
My understanding is he has a fair offer in front of him at 2 years.
Sounds like he wants to move to QLD so might be playing for you guys next year.

He was linked to us (the Suns) as recently as two weeks ago:

Gold Coast are reportedly keeping an eye on veteran Collingwood forward Jamie Elliott, as the out-of-contract 32-year-old continues to weigh up his future.

Elliott, who has been in red-hot form throughout 2025, is yet to accept a two-year deal on the table from the Magpies as they continue their premiership tilt.

Speaking on SEN, reporter Sam Edmund expanded on the contender’s preliminary interest in the 241-gamer.

“There is a chance Elliott’s career-best season could be his last at Collingwood. The Suns are holding some appeal for the (out-of-contract) forward; he is an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season, so he could move north.

“He had a good look at Brisbane (in 2022) ... his family is still there (and) he spent a lot of his childhood in Queensland, so there is no doubt that they hold some appeal for him. Collingwood are aware of this, the Suns are also aware of it.

“I think he’s got a school of thought that the warmer weather might extend his career as well. I’m not sure what the Gold Coast offer would be, because it hasn’t got to that.

“The Suns are monitoring it.”

...

He has stated in the past that he plans to move to Queensland straight after he retires (he spent a good portion of his childhood in QLD) and recent reports suggest that at least some of his family members currently live up here. So it wouldn't be overly surprising to see him sign a 2-3 year deal with the Suns and start that transition into what he wants to do post-footy now that he's 32yo. Might even get the chance to play in another flag and being an inaugural premiership player with a club is obviously a pretty unique attraction.

Leaving pies my guess. Been on other clubs radar for months now. Unless it's manager leaking info to get a better deal at the pies because there's been a lot of talk that the club has been lowballing their players.

Would be hard to turn down for sure.
At his age and considering his desire to retire in to retire in Queensland, it'd almost be silly to turn it down. Career best form is awesome but everyone knows it can fall away quickly when you're 32yo+. I reckon he takes the offer and moves to Queensland, mainly because I think he would have already re-signed if he planned on staying with the Pies.

Though he did turn down Brisbane back in 2019 really, really late. Of course, he's older now and given he apparently wants to move to Queensland post-footy....

Form has already slipped.

Take the two years Jamie.

Rumour has it Elliott has spent the last few days in Queensland before returning to Melbourne to begin training for finals.

Curious timing...

This was reported in May but pretty clearly a contract negotiation tactic. I don't see how/why we would be involved.
Fair enough. The below tweet was posted three weeks ago so I reckon he's potentially a chance to join us (the Suns) if the Pies don't give him what he wants contract wise. According to his socials, he was in Queensland earlier this week and has stated publicly that he plans to return to QLD one day after spending some of his childhood here... so who knows!
