Don't think it is "mass changes"
A list turn over of 6 to 8 is pretty standard these days

In addition (leaving injuries aside) we have a pretty strong list that should stay together for the next 3 to 5 years

Adding to it in 20/21 will be necessary though

I'd have thought 6-8 is a lot for us in recent times but you're right we changed as much last year & the year before. Adding Varcoe & Reid to those numbers would have left us bare in a draft where we aren't well placed to get top end talent in though. I think it's a reasonable list decision under the circumstances. Still not sure keeping Varcoe is Elliott related either.

So does Elliott need to do the trade before tomorrow? Assume he can still move in the trade period anyway

For what it’s worth he was there doing a physical as well.

He'd be definitely doing a medical or physical or whatever you want to call it. They'd be doing their due diligence on him as much as he to them.

Why do we all assume Elliott is 100% leaving?

Players have toured facilities before and still stayed at their clubs. Players have OPENLY STATED they want to leave and still stayed at their clubs.

Lin Jong toured the Holden Centre during the season and didn’t end up with us.

I can’t see Elliott leaving, especially for an interstate club. He is very close to his family and lost his father at a young age. Can’t see him moving away from family.

I hope he stays! Quite frankly when up and running his great to watch and provides good options and allows Stephenson and De Goey do their thing. If he does go then I don’t want him at Melblonk or Haw$#it!

Human nature. Some people are half empty, others are half full kind of people.

Ricky Nixon suggesting Elliott is gone

Nixon has about a 70 - 30 strike rate
He’s probably fishing. The bloke has a hard on for Brisbane due to the Hawthorn connection and hates Collingwood.
If it doesn’t eventuate, he’ll claim that it was a last minute change of mind. Loves to troll.
He was the one who thought the Beams deal for Collingwood was so good that there had to be a side deal to help Brisbane out later.

If we’re allowing Jamie to go, it has to be because we’ve got bigger fish to fry or we think his body is shot. I have faith in the club. We won’t lose him if we really want him.

Like dale thomas before him, we only allow those to leave if we don’t truly want them.

Yes, but Nixon talked of Jamie backflipping on Hawks who never spoke officially to him. Think that Ricky makes most of it up as he goes along. I check in from time to time and never have I seen him come up with anything original which has proved to be true. He curates the news.

I will give Lions a bigger chance of getting a flag then us tbh if our injury profile from the past few years continues.
I don’t. They’re the Melbourne of 2019. Super easy draw and played above themselves only to be found out at finals time. They probably won’t fall as far, but I don’t expect them to make top 4 again with a harder draw.

Who knows the Lions may still get an easy draw, didn't Richmond get something like the 13th hardest draw this year after finishing top 4 in 2018? I know the Roos got one of the toughest and they didn't play finals. There's a massive lack of transparency around so many aspects of the AFL, from FA compo, to FA rules in general, to rules of the game, to draw difficulty. It's honestly an absolute dogs breakfast.

Tough or Easy I'd imagine the Lions will make the top 8 with no changes to their list.

3 years at 500k is a bloody good deal for someone who didn’t play a single game in 2018. I think it’s 1 year too many and $100k too much per season.

Lack of transparency makes it easy for the AFL to make up the rules as they go along to give their pets an armchair ride . . rollseyes.gif

You forgot the best of them all, Aish.

Jack Frost says hi 😳
Aish has actually become quite a solid defender. Happy enough for a couple of second rounder that usually have a 50/50 chance of making it anyway.

If that is true Brisbane will have to up their offer you would think, what that would do to our compo if he ended up at Brisbane on $650-$700 is anyone's guess.

However Ricky Nixon is likely to be intoxicated on something at this time on a Sunday morning.
