i would be surprised if liverpool paid what shakhtar are asking
it will get sorted in the end, sky are saying he is desperate to play for LFC with his best mates Cout and Lucas.
the difference isnt that much anyway and i dont think Ayre will want to piss Klopp off, Klopp wont accept it like Brodg did.

Willian was desperate to sign for AVB in January 2013, we only offered like 18m or something, Shakhtar rejected the offer and sold him to Anzhi instead as they paid up like 30m or something, he had 18 months left on contract then.

Shakhtar and most Ukranian teams are very tough negotiators and will always drive a hard bargain, you guys should've signed that winger who signed for Sevilla on a free for etc from Dnipro before his contract expired, but that deal fell apart. Like the Portugese, if you don't pay up you don't get.

Different situation now with Shaktar based in Eastern Ukraine and the war with Russia(although they've been forced to relocate their games elsewhere).

They need to sell to balance their books and plenty of their players want to get away from Ukraine.

Konoplyanka is the player you are referring to. We met his release clause but the corrupt Dnipro owner demanded the whole fer up front in cash or gagf. We backed out for obvious reasons.

You didn't pay upfront, that was the condition then......

Telling ya, they are pricks to deal with, everyone goes on about Levy being an ass, these guys are the same

We're looking at strikers pretty intently.

Seydou Doumbia is one we're being linked with. Eder the other striker.

Anyone know much about either?

Nobody pays transfer fees in one hit. IIRC the owner of Dnipro ended up getting arrested on fraud related charges about a year later so it was probably a good idea we stayed away from that deal.

It was a release clause which we met, Konoplyanka passed his medical with us and their owner (illegally) just flat out refused to sign the papers allowing the transfer to go ahead, presumably just to prove a point.

I'm well aware that some of these Eastern European owners drive a hard bargain and at times seem intent on playing by their own rules. For that reason I'm sure Teixeira won't come cheap, but for a club with our resources £30m+ transfers aren't unfeasible - if this deal comes off Teixeira would be our 4th signing in this price bracket so it's not unrealistic to think we could push the boat out to £35m if that's what it's going to take for Shakhtar to sign off on a deal.

Personally when it comes to players of this sort of calibre I'm really not fussed about over paying slightly to get the deal done. We've been happy to do just that on some pretty ordinary players in the past, but then conversely we've missed out on some top quality players by haggling over pennies.

Fair sure Doumbia has a good record playing for CSKA Moscow, but he was terrible in Serie A for Roma.

Eder is really good. Very quick, direct player who is an excellent dribbler. He's the equal second top scorer currently in Serie A and pretty much a regular now for the Italian national team. Inter are after him too.

they don't negotiate. fernandinho had to pay some of the transfer fee to get his move. shakhtar won't negotiate. they have their price, and it's up to liverpool to meet it.

bernard also wanted out. he had a price, no one met it, he's still there.

Shaker's owner is in financial strife because of the eastern ukranian war. His coal company (part of the same group of companies as Shaktar Donetsk) was in default last year with operations severely affected by the war. They have to play their home games in Lviv and he's nowhere to be seen because he's viewed as a pawn of the Russians in Ukraine.

They pretty much need to sell stars to keep them going. We may agree to their total fee but only on the basis of at least 10-15m being add on based. They certainly aren't in the great negotiating positions of the past these days though.

Simon Hill reported during the Melbourne City-Wellington game that he's heard rumours that Melbourne City had approached Nemanja Vidic. No idea how advanced any negotiations might be, but it would be a good get for the A-League and City ahead of MLS if it were to happen.

akhmetov is still worth billions. they still managed to get 30 mil for douglas costa.

they have the player, who has a contract until 2018 and have a fee they're demanding. they're in the better position. it's not exactly going to be made simple by a man long believed to have roots in organised crime.

I didn't see him but I have heard that he was disappointing at Inter. Still, if the rumours are true he has attracted interest from a couple of Premier League teams since he terminated his contract and there's a fair difference in quality between Serie A and the A-League. With competition for his signature coming from MLS and Asia also, it would still be a pretty big acquisition for this league, regardless of his decline.

he is cooked at the highest level and has been for quite some time.

I love Vidic and would love to see him.

Martinez has assured Evertonians that Howard is going nowhere as he dismissed rumours of an MLS move to Colorado this month as he has 2yrs left on his contract.

******* fantastic, could be the best keeper in league one by then

Yep, we had the same issues with Willian for 12 months and then had to wait until he was sold elsewhere to get him.

Such a irritating player, has all the physical attributes but his touch is usually atrocious.

We leave having scored one of the greatest Chelsea goals I'll ever see.

And £25m is just to good to refuse.
