No not the one they won here, the real Japan Cup is on Sunday.

This year sees the smallest & possibly strongest field in history.

The all conquering local Deep Impact will run odds on fave. He's won 10 from 11 & last start ran 3rd in the Arc(later disqualified). He will clash with another local star Hearts Cry & the last start Breeders Cup winning UK mare,Ouija Board.

Hearts Cry defeated Ouija board in Dubai earlier this year then was placed in the King George behind Hurricane Run in June so is world class.

The top 2 Japanese 3yo's Meishin Samson & Dream Passport are also in the mix,the later with M Cup winning hoop Y Iwata aboard.

If you havent seen Japanese racing, tune into Sky at 5.20 Sunday.

Centrebet have a market as follows:

Deep Impact $1.7
Ouija Board $5.5
Hearts Cry $6
M Samson $10
D Passport $17

How Ouija Board could be shorter than Hearts Cry is beyond me.
He spanked her in Dubai & she's had to travel after winning in the US.

As for Deep Impact,I guess if he is the best Japanese horse ever,$1.7 is ok.
Hard to line up the 3yo's but a 3yo won the Arc in which DI ran 3rd.

I was speaking to a mate in Japan who tells me that while all the hype is for Deep Impact the smart money will be for Heart's Cry. 1.7 is way under even for the brilliant horse that is Deep Impact.

I will be putting some money on Heart's Cry and for a Japanese quinella.(DI/HC).
Ouija Board is pretty handy horse too ... so should be one very good race for the racing purist.

Thats his only loss & Take was clearly outridden by Lemaire.
Never closer than 4 wide.

Agree that there shouldnt be that much between them though.

If Delta Blues came towards the back of the field in that race, is that an indication of the qaulity of the Melbourne Cup field this year? Or simply that it had a bad race and the length wasn't right for it?

I was going to back Deep Impact but missed the jump by 5 minutes... watching the golf or Cricket or something.
Was 1.70 the best odds available?

Thats how highly he's regarded, cameraman forgot about the rest of the field.
Some horse alright.

Another ripper from Iwata to get the 3yo into 2nd.
