Comparing Polec to Karnezis, I am more confident of Polec being in the starting 22 by the end of 2013. But I think Karnezis has a higher ceiling. I can't decide which one has greater value at this stage.

Interesting. I'd say the exact opposite.

I think Karnezis is more likely to force his way into the team, because there are more roles he can fill, and possibly fewer aspects of his game he needs to work on. But I think Polec averaging 25 touches a game would be an awesome force. I'm just not sure he'll ever develop the endurance and composure to be that kind of player.

Voss seemed more keen to play Polec than Karnezis when they were both fit this season so I think he sees Polec as being higher in the pecking order. Whether or not Beams and Bewick have overtaken Polec will be interesting.

You can see why too, he had a few good moments where you go "Wow!" including the passage of play leading up the goal against the Eagles.

He has also been missing in other facets of the game too.

Beams and Bewick have most likely over-taken him based on this season alone.

While I think Polec could be a very good player, I don't think he'll ever be a great inside player. IMO Karnezis has a better body to work with - he plays taller and is more likely to add bulk (will take a while though), whereas Polec will always be punching above his weight against bigger bodies. But Karnezis is adapting to a completely new role that hasn't worked so far in the seniors, compared to Polec who has shown glimpses and seems to just need a good preseason to be able to do it consistently.

If Polec can get a full pre-season he will be a force IMO. His skills and general decision making are superb. I could see him playing forward, back and in the midfield in the future. He is a very good shot at goal as well. Would love to see him play as a half forward a bit more.

ADELAIDE was prepared to cash in and trade Kurt Tippett to Brisbane last year for a boom SA youngster and a draft pick, it has been revealed.
"If Polec or Redden was offered to us then Kurt would probably be a Brisbane player now," said the source, speaking on condition of anonymity.
"Kurt was under contract at the time but we feared we might lose him at the end of this year anyway so we tried to work what we thought would be a good deal for both clubs.
"Jared was certainly keen to come home but unfortunately Brisbane didn't come to the party."

I wouldn't put it past a journo to talk on someone on Bigfooty and then call it "information from a key Adelaide insider".

To add to this: even if this has come from an Adelaide insider, who's to say if it's true? Sounds like the beginning of a campaign to bring Polec back to Adelaide in the future.

well hopefully he has a breakout year which makes him want to stay, also he could be a Crows supporter, and despise Port Adelaide, and since adelaide crows hopefully wont have any first round draft picks for the foreseeable future he wouldn't risk walking to the national draft and we could keep him by default

He grew up as a Port supporter.

yeah alot of our players wouldnt have grown up supporting us, I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say in regards to polec

Must be missing something.

That article says Adelaide wanted Redden or Polec plus pick 30 (Yeo) for Tippett. We offered 12 (Docherty) and 30 (Yeo). They got bupkis plus an investigation. Yep, Brisbane clearly "lost Tippett".

Polec re-signed with us in July 2011. 2 months later he wanted to come home?

He was a Port supporter, his folks are Crows supporters. Reckon it's in both Jared's and the club's interest to see where he's at come the end of 2013.

Not really.

I don't really pay a lot of creedance to homesick rumours, because our team is comprised of young men who are away from their friends and family, but play for our team anyway because for the most part their 'new' friends and family do.

That's not to say that Jared isn't a little bit homesick. But that doesn't automatically mean that he will pack it up and take off. I seem to remember a young man from WA drafted in 1997 who was a little bit homesick after being drafted to the Lions.

So Adelaide was prepared to trade Kurt Tippett last season if we offered them a trade that greatly exceeded his value?

Well knock me down with a feather.

This is just an attempt by someone within Adelaide to deflect some of the flak from their own awful decision making. It should be taken with a grain of salt.

I'm sure Polec would be happy to go back to his home town to play his footy but that's not the same thing as being unhappy in Brisbane and insisting on being traded.

The article also implies that the Crows would have taken pick 8 if it'd had been offered, but that's been directly contradicted by Kerr and I know who I believe.

yeahh Kerrs also implied they wanted a player on top of pick 8, and in this article he basically said polec or redden with pick 30 would have done it, bit of a gee up

You can't blame an 18 year old from being ok with getting traded home to a good club. Who knows the Crows might have offered him good money with a bit on the side as well (it wouldn't be the first time ;) ).

I would treat those comments lightly. It's difficult to predict where a player will end up, remember that information was from the end of 2011 not the end of 2012. If Polec can have a good season a feel he is part of the senior team then why would he want to leave? Look at someone like Rich, he was rumoured to be leaving back to West Coast not so long ago, yet he stayed.

Rich rumours were complete bullshit though.

I heard a rumor that Zorko is homesick and wants to go to Gold Coast ;)
