More runs on the board meaning.... close to a hundred more games?
Statistically Rivers is ahead and 3 years younger. More scope for improvement.

Leigh Brown at the moment, but as he said, Rivers is younger so you probably would rather have him on your list.

Leigh Brown for mine (yes I barrack for North, but I can almost justify this!). Brown is more versitile than Rivers ATM. Brown has proven he can play full back, CHB, CHF, FF and even pich hit in the ruck, whereas Rivers is only proven at CHB. Having said that, if you are after a rising star defender, Rivers is your man, but I'd rather a spare parts man in Leroy Brown.

Jared Rivers for mine. Might not be as versatile but is more valuable at the one thing (As a defender) than Brown as a utility player. I think he probably has a little more speed and agility than Brown as well.

Show me where he has had a very good game at CHF, FF or in the ruck.

Firrito 24 makes a good point

leigh brown can be useful because he is good in a number of spots but when it comes to CHB, Rivers is already better and will still improve.

Depends what you want because you could mold leigh brown into a decent KPP player anywhere on the ground while Rivers, given his potential and a lotta hard work, could be come one of the best CHBs in the comp

Hasnt been a good forward, just one good game but bar that nothing much. Ruck he is only used there because he can give others a breather while negating the work of the other rucks. FB he was alright, got beaten in the end because of his injury but at the start of the season was dominating.

CHB is his possie though, I see Rivers as a third tall/loose man in defence ATM more than a true CHB.

But I'd rather have Rivers.

vs Adelaide rd 1 (cant remember the year) he kicked six goals, in our 85 point win. :p

Fair enough. But Daniel Ward kicked 4 goals against Brisbane when we beat them at the Gabba in 2002, yet I wouldn't call him a forward capable doing that a few times in a season (Heck he won't do it again in his career).
I just see Rivers as a player who has already had a very good season in 2004, still very young (Is 2-3 years younger than Brown I think) and has massive potential. Brown on the other hand will do a job and give his all, but I just don't think he has the ability of Rivers and I think if Rivers takes another step this year he will have surpassed Brown well and truly.

Rivers by something that is masive. Seriously I can't stress this enough, he is miles and like.. totally miles ahead of Leegh Brown.

Brown has played 6 seasons, Rivers only 3 but he is already infront.
Stats wise Rivers is in front in almost every category, but the most telling one is the marks. Rivers is much better at taking marks, especially contested ones. Someone said that Rivers is more of a third tall, well that's completely wrong, he is a great true CHB and is only forced to leave his man to contest with other players simply because of the fact that we lack quality tall defenders. When he doesn't play is shows, out backline gets destroyed.

Brown has the bigger body and i think he will be great for us at CHB this year.

Rivers has more skill and moves better.

I have questions over whether Rivers can effectively hold down CHB, or will simply be a third man up. He did look bigger and better at CHB this preseason though.

If Rivers shows the strength to play on guys like Tredrea or Hall, then he will be the better player.

Really good poll.

Brown is a solid player with a bit more bulk and height than Rivers. Saying that i think Rivers is a wonderfull player because he plays on bigger and stronger opponents every week.

I would think both teams would be very happy with their respective players at this stage of their carrers.

Very diplomatic. Also correct
