I love him. No mess, no fuss, no bs or prima donna turns. He just rolls up and quietly does whatever is asked of him, and allows the stars to shine all that much more brightly by doing so. A terrific team player.

And a man who was always destined to be a Cat: going to school with Andrew Mackie, as he did, and having an older brother playing footy as a junior with Corey Enright.

He deserves to be right here, right now, in a Geelong team building up momentum in yet another odd numbered year. If he does get to stand on that most glorious pedestal in the company of our hooped clad heroes in September, it will really highlight the differences in cultures between the game's two oldest clubs, and should remind us all of how close we were to the abyss in 1999.

GO CATS!

We need to assess the FA recruit at years end.

He still looks to be a little inhibited but slowly getting comfortable. I certainly think he was a bigger part of the Melb side than he is in the Geelong side. The positive should be he has a bag of experience he bring to the side , he should come in a play seamless footy. The down side is what happens to our younger talls waiting their chance to build their game tally , build experience and secure a career. I remember he switched forward at Melb last year. I wonder if he may be a an option at some stage if Hawk continues to struggle. Doesn't look like Kersten will get a go

So again , for mine I'll see what he brings in Sept. The new frontier for Rivers cause he has never had a group like this to play with , he has never had to play in a side where they are expected to be as good as anyone. What's he like in the heat of Sept pressure. We will see.

Would of been great to have had him play the full year and get completely comfortable in the team and master his role, but hopefully next year. Thought he was solid last night, didnt do anything wrong i can think of and he was part of a backline that crushed the swans. Hard to complain about that

He almost looks ashamed to be in a winning culture to me, it must be a shock to be transplanted from such a train wreck directly into a smoothly oiled machine. Hopefully he becomes more at ease with it.

Not sure "ashamed" is correct , "embarrassed"..maybe but its more a sense of contribution. Feeling like he is value. He knows he has come in to a club that was winning before he got here. That was winning while he was injured. If he stays in the side his day will come. Just like it did with Lonergan when his value was seen when he shut down Cloke in the GF and of course his record versus Buddy.

Does anyone know why Rivers was wearing a black armband last night but none of the other guys were?

I did have one member near me suggest that he was mourning the Melbourne Football Club:D

there's lots of things I like about him
He has the strength and experience to match it with the KPF
He is a good mark but also knows when to punch
He lays tackles
The majority of his possessions are contested not ring a ring a rosie cheap stats
His disposal is generally good and he moves the ball on quickly.

What in the actual f*ck does this sentence mean?
Imagine (how good) Rivers (will be) come finals time. Sure, he's been like a deer in headlights because of pressure early on (in the season I assume) but overall he's been a big addition (to the side in 2013). He's also another Sacred Heart product (Sacred Heart being a private school in Adelaide renowned for producing talented kids like none other than Andrew Mackie).

The erroneous implication being that the school is located in Glenelg, the beachside suburb of Adelaide which the poster has listed as his location. The school is actually located in the neighbouring suburb of Somerton Park. There is a difference, it's like someone in Thomson saying they live in East Geelong, it just isn't quite true. The difference though strangely enough is that Glenelg is the nicer suburb of the two.

I hope I've cleared things up. We're not all like that in Adelaide, although I dare say BIGANT was coming off a big night so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt!

Really happy to see Riv playing well at the Cats. He deserves a bit of success. He always gave 100% for the Dees. I have a lot of respect for him. :thumbsu:

All the best, Cats.

Couldn't agree more , very good overhead and knows when to take the grab and when to spoil.
Love the spoils , just knows where to direct the footy - to the most defensive position every time
Can take a tall or small as well , saw that against West Coast :thumbsu:
