i think he was implying that attacking him because of his allegiance to carlton was a dog act, not the fact that the attackers are <removed> supporters.
 
i saw on a site earlier that swann had made a statement, and that the attack had no bearing on the fact that waite was an AFL footballer.

good enough for swann good enough for me.

oh and it also said it was minor facial injuries, nothing about a broken eye socket or whatever.

Carlton chief executive Greg Swann said Waite was an innocent victim of the attack but his status as an AFL footballer played no part in the incident.

"This is very disappointing for Jarrad and his girlfriend who were the innocent victims of an assault that has certainly dampened the start to the New Year for them both,'' said Swann in a statement.

"It is a concern for everyone in the community that such assaults take place, it was a completely random attack. The fact Jarrad is an AFL player had no bearing on the incident.''



That is what your club CEO had to say on the matter. Surely if 4 <removed> supporters targeted Waite for being a Carlton player it would be a football related attack? Eddiebets should be red carded for spreading such lies! :rolleyes: <when did the truth determine who can post on BigFooty? - Mod)

One could make a case for him if it had of been reported somewhere but he said watched it on TV, i watched the same thing and they said nothing about <removed> supporters which means he was clearly lying. Talk about dog acts........

No you could of went out as long as you stay away from Geelong. Its a little Ghetto down here. On saturday night some taxi driver got bashed aswell and has eye injuries, they think he will have double vision in that one eye now:thumbsdown:

<removed>.... the assault never happened in geelong it was "Lorne" a totally different town almost an hour from geelong...these thing's happen everywhere

Of course it happens everywhere but you being from Geelong aswell you have to admit its getting pretty bad and yes it was in Lorne but i was just saying how bad it is.

Blues player hurt in attack
Channel Seven reported that Waite suffered a suspected broken nose and cheekbone and fractured eye socket when attacked with a bottle in the main street at 3.20am.

The television report said his girlfriend, Jacklyn Spong, suffered a broken tooth, and a male friend was also struck.

Hopefully Jarrad and his girl are OK and any damage is temporary.

Also hopefully the morons responsible get their medicine in court. Let's not go slagging opposition supporters for this. Even if it turns out the thugs support one club, that doesn't make them representative. Every club has its idiots.
 
According to the Age report, the 4 men detained were west australians

Does this automatically mean that they were weagles supporters??? For all we know, they could have been Perth Glory supporters who hate AFL.

Of course not, they could have just been a bunch of louts all beer'd up and thinking that they would smack someone...

They happened upon Jarrad and his party and thought these will do and jumped in.

It was a dog act, but to attribute it to any particular group of supporters is stupidity at it's finest.
 
Sad news :( hopefully Jarrad recovers quickly. Fingers crossed it be a full recovery being a eye injury.

I hope the judge glasses them in the eye, metaphorically I guess. Pathetic act by a bunch of blokes who probably wouldn't have the testicular fortitude to take on a bloke without a weapon, or outnumbering them, or a man who was distracted with the safety of his girlfriend.

What a load of crap mate. The guy is on holiday trying to enjoy New Years with his missus and a couple of mates just like everyone else. What the heck has the time got to do with it? Clearly the incident was not his fault so cut him some slack. Waite has an impeccable record off-field and has never been a problem.

Get well soon Waitey. Let's just hope what goes around comes around for those 4 weak dogs that belted you.

foxsports news says it won't interupt his preseason training so how could he still be training if he had a fractued eye socket which they didn;t say uintodays herald sun or foxsports news unless one of th ethugs actually punched him still i hope the thugs get the bok thrown at them and made to write to Jarrad to Appologise for there childish behaviour ;) .
