I noticed in the Herald Sun (And everywhere else for that matter) That they describe Jarred Waite as young.

I looked up his age and noticed that he was born in 1981, making him 27 next year, which means for Jarred its time to show the full potential because in AFL terms he isnt really a spring chicken.

For me, i think to be described as young in AFL you have to be atleast under 23.

AFL Tables has him born 04-02-1983, making him 24. I agree though that he should be starting to shine...may only have 5 or six seasons left in him.

I can tell you this is his coorect d.o.b. and he debuted in r1 2003 missed 9 games in 04 with a foot injury ( i think stress fracture )and was a steady performer in the closing games of that season when he came back from his injury . He had a good year in 05 playing as a fwd earning him a place in the international rules team . he suffered a stress fracture to his right leg during the 06 pre season which obviously set him back and mid season he missed two months with a knee problem .
He had a pretty good season last year and was used at both ends as we all know . Barring injury , i think he could play til he's 32 giving us another eight seasons .

Exactly. He should be coming right into his prime now. And i'd play him up forward, as this is where he is his most damaging.

HBF like when I see your avatar my tongue is out at the prospect of the mid-field sending it into Waite and Fev. The replays on FOX in Dec reminded me how dangerous he can be. With more skills sessions as has been mentioned in other threads his kicking for goal will I am sure improve.
Waite I sure has the fire in the belly and I truely believe this will be his coming out year!

I must admit i like him in the fwd line too but i think he needs to improve his accuracy a little . though he does a good job against tha saints on the revolting one doesn't he ?

Jarrad Waite is most definitely not that old. I'm 25 now and he was the year below me at my school for a few years until he moved away. Wasn't even in the back row for school photos, so must have had a good growth spurt :p

Even though he moved away, i'm tippin he was still a year below you:rolleyes:

GOY or should that be GOTY(?) was won by Matthew "Harry Highpants" Lloyd for his backheel goal against us.
Many underrate how hard it was for a guy with half a brain to put his thought process into reverse and kick a goal from 1m out directly in front.........it can be very hard..........

Fev's barrell vs Saints after he tackled the guy in the centre and Waites "roll it in" goal vs Pies were both better, as were a number of other examples through the year - poor choice by the Judges.

As for this thread........after his first full season for a long time (? ever) and a full injury free pre-season (fingers crossed) he should have a more consistent year next year.........but if the best we get is what he did last year every year then, while I think it will fall short of his potential, he will be a very good contributer to this team.
