Jarred Waite - Kouta-like?

This kid shows some promise. With a rising Star Nomination and a few good games under his belt, this will surely improve his confidence. Jarred just reminds me of a young Koutoufides every time I see him pick up and dispose of the ball. He has got very good skills and pace to burn. The agility, poise, skill, speed and footy smarts are very similar to Kouta when he was young. Not to put to much pressure on the kid, but will he be the next Koutoufides? All he needs to do to further justify this is to grab the ball one-handed and get it out of the packs above heads.

Yet I have the feeling opposition supporters don't recogonise him because they are still not looking past the "It's Carlton - of course they have no good youth" stereotype. Will this guy or a few of our other kids have to do something spectacular (ie. getting 30 possies and kicking 5 goals) just to warrant attention and gain praise from opposition supporters who have ridiculed Carlton's youth in the past. Waite, along with Fisher, Thornton, Sporn, Campbell, Davies (if he stays) and Norman will be great servants of Carlton. Two of them possibly future superstars. The jury is still out on Wiggins, Livingston and Beasy - we know that with confidence that that can play well, but the jury is still out on them. If they find some confidence and application, watch out!

And people say that we have no good young kids coming through? Pfft to them is all I can say. I'll be laughing when Waite gets 35 disposals, 18 marks and five goals against Essendon one day (hopefully) - Kouta loved to play well against that mob.

Don't put the mozz on him Thrawn, I think everyone knows he's a reasonable footballer now. But he aint no Kouta just yet!

I reckon he could end up with better football smarts than Kouta who took some time to develop in that way. If Waite is consistent over his career, he may well end up surpassing the Koutaman. He will be his own man though, not a Kouta clone and it is a long road ahead.

Justin Murphy is the worst player in the AFL at the moment. he does nothing, he is weak and one of the most heartless players i have ever seen. all he does is jog around in circles, he doesn't sprint, he doesn't man up, he doesn't chase and he won't go in and get his own footy. How he gets a game week in and week out is a bloody joke. It is players like Murphy why Carlton is having a bad year.

Why won't Pagan play Glen Manton, he is playing well for the bullants and he is a better player than Mick Martyn and Luke Livingston who have been playing in the backline.

Another player who should be getting a game because he impressed me last year is Campbell. he is also playing well for the Bullants and is still not getting a game. I am not having ago at Pagan, i am just saying I would like to see them get a game in the future and for the love of god NEVER EVER give JUSTIN MURPHY another game of AFL football again.

I completely agree... i am a huge Waite fan & waiting with Waite was the smartest the CFC did in the last few years of the Elliot dictatorship...

He's got it all... the ultimate modern day footballer & will be better than Kouta i feel... touch wood

Waite & Fisher

Waite and Fisher are definitely young guns
They both can "hold" the ball
for mine thats the main attribute I would look for in draft
Like Williams and Kouta that ability to hold the ball for
just half a second more makes all the difference
and Waites pace of half back is at times electric

Waite is very Koutaesque and will hopefully keep improving and be a 200+ game player for Carlton in the future. The potential is certainly there for him to go on and become the 'next Kouta'.
