Goldsack game one.
Davis game two.
Game one I would have had Medhurst and Lockyer over Blair and Maccaffer
Malthouse explained why Medhurst lost his spot in the team and you can't argue with the logic of the coach who has delivered us a premiership. Lockyer lost his spot for the same reason Licuria retired - loss of pace due to aging legs. Blair deserved his spot in the 2010 GF side. However since then the game has speeded up and gone past him.
Malthouse also said he left Medhurst in the VFL too long. Lockyer and Blair statistically were the same and I would have taken Lockyer's smarts over Blair's "pace". That and Lockyer was a clutch shot on goal in side with poor accuracy.
Yep, there is no possible way be gets another deal, we have better VFL listed players.
Give the Wee Man an extension. Heart and soul player.
He has got heart and soul but when he is playing he cant get near it, cant get a touch, runs around like a headless chook
But we have seen the Collingwood decision making process of late, bewildering would be an understatement, so on that basis he probably will get an extension, anyone with half a brain would delist
see what happens
Blairy I have admired your ability to get everything possible out of your career through hard work and shear determination. Thanks for all your efforts but I think it is time for an honourable exit. Well done.
Blair will get a one year extension and play out next year in the 2's. Bookmark it. Collingwood want minimal list changes and with the coaching fighting for his job Blair keeps his spot as a backup. From all reports is a great clubman and good mentor for the younger kids. Oxley, Mackie and Sier (rerookie) in the firing line with White also retired.
As long as it is on minimum wage, can we delist then rookie him?
So he'll play 15 games in the seniors. Ok I get it.
If Blair survives a cull because he is a good mentor and club man then Brent McCaffer should still be on the books too.
Medhurst's not coming back you know.
Blairy, still opening up 7 year old wounds. God bless him.
According to an AFL.com article about 2018 free agents, Blair is listed as one of them for Collingwood. So unfortunately, I assume he was given a two year contract at the end of last season, or they gave him an extra year through this season.
Didn't even reach the F/S 100 games at either the Pies (69 games) or Freo (99 games) so even his post career breeding doesn't help us.
I'm no fan of his but it depends on what else is available. If there's no-one worth a list spot then I guess another year on minimum wages could be justified.
Only to be used in case of emergency and most of the year in the twos. That's not my preference though.
Problem is that he was an "in case of emergency" this year and was still used despite there being no emergency for his type of player to come in.
Yep I know. My preference is delist
Exactly. Get rid of the temptation!
