Dude, wow. That ball would have swirled in the air, and got away from him. He got into the best position he could and just fumbled it. What it looked to me was instinct kicked in and he tried to take it as if it was a rugby ball with his hands further from his body. And, did you see that game. It was a comedy of errors. His fumble was the least of their problems. Their 50 year old punter had his first 30 yard field goal attempt blocked and it almost cost them a TD.
He shouldn't have attempted to take it in the first place...

He dived full length forward to the ball, inches off the ground in front of him. He misjudged it in flight, but instead of backing away, he went the superman dive for a highlight reel. It's obvious to me because during the pre-season he was getting shitty with the coaches at all the kickoffs that went over his head for a touchback, shrugging his arms up in frustration towards the sideline like to say, "how can i showcase my talents if i dont get to return every single kick, given the minimal chances i get".

Not sure if trolling, I think he backed himself in, and it didn't come off. It would have given them good field position if he had have taken it, and it was by no means a superman dive. If you think it was, go watch it again. He just tried to take it low down.

It's funny the heat he gets on here from Australian guys who consider themselves football fans, as though they are trying to prove they are somehow superior cos they followed the game before Jarryd Hayne played !!

I love trolling...but I'm being deadly serious...with a sprinkle of humor.

I've seen it a hundred times. He misjudged it, but he dived forward to catch it, such that his arms and the ball were inches away from the ground when he fumbled it. Go watch it again. He just doesn't understand you have to run for your life away from the ball when that happens....dare not touch it, dare not let the ball bounce into you, just run for your life away from it.

Realistically you are probably right, and he is gonna need to learn a hell of a lot, but I still think the coaching staff would be more than satisfied with his first hit out.

I think they'll persist another game....but if he makes another similar mistake...AND...continues to be pedestrian rushing the ball....the Niners will surely waive him.

Hahaha. I dont have a problem shooting down a guy who comes in pretending to know everything about the game when they haven't actually watched a game before. Guys that only bet on it annoy me just as much. But the way some have carried on, especially about the channel 7 thing, that is just ridiculous. If you really are a fan, there is no way that you don't have Foxtel connected.

satisfied?
if you have just 1 more turnover than the opposition you win just 30% of the time, you cannot afford to turn it over especially when you have a nuffie job on the team.
if they are treating him like an NFL player they are not satisfied with his game

What it shows is his true colors coming out....he's not playing for the team, he's playing just for himself, his logo, for the money/endorsements, by trying to make ridiculous, unsafe spectacular plays...gambling the team's chances of winning.....sometimes they come off and sometimes they dont....he doesn't care, he'll take the gamble because if it comes off he'll get talked about, his ego stroked, his highlights repeated on sports shows. Selfish guy.

First of all, that is a stupid assumption. What if someone were a huge fan but couldn't afford foxtel or didn't even have a TV

Besides, there are better alternatives such as gamepass. But you don't get the point. The 49ers are not exactly an exciting team to watch at the moment, and all it's going to do is turn fans AWAY from the game. See above

Inexperience. But how many times has he been told in film room and meetings about the whole concept of punt returning....to run away from time bombs, when to fair catch, etc. And how many times has he been told or see how regular it is that kick-offs go out for touchbacks (enough that he shouldn't have been throwing his arms around in frustration vs Broncos pre-season). Much of the fundamentals of Punt returning that he would've had to learn would be all about the concept of fair catching. Has he ever fair caught one?? Maybe one in pre-season, that he promptly got shitty about having to do.

why would they pay $160 a month, when they can pay that for a season and get every game?
Foxtel base + sports aint $160 a month. But either way, you are spending money to get the coverage. Plus Foxtel has all the related US media NFL programs on ESPN and ESPN 2. I just think complaining about what channel 7 are doing is pointless. It is obvious what they are going for, and it probably will work.

If Hayne makes the same mistake again on PR,he's dumb "Cnut".

I wonder if this fumble will force him into his shell?

Personally,I reckon he'll learn from this situation and grow from this experience IMO.

I pay $60 a month which gets me heaps of NFL coverage.

He fair caught one and basically panicked on it because no one was anywhere near him when he did so. Like you have been saying the whole thread his situational awareness is next to zero.

See....he's dived forward....that's the moment of the fumble, the ball and his arms inches from the ground.

There' s a better front on pic from NFL.com.. I've added it as the backdrop to the ae15clubhouse fb page just to spite the fools in the australian media…:rolleyes:

They simply don't get it.. as you made mention … away… away.. from ball you fool. Heroes get shown up too often in the NFL… the NFL stands for >> Not for long<< for embarking on a career.

I'll be watching the 49ers to see if Carlos Hyde can continue that brutal style of running he showed against the Vikings.

I think people would be alot fairer on hayne if we were not force fed crap from the australian media day, in day out. If they can point out his "successes" like 7 yard receptions, then we can point out his "failures".

We all appreciate how hard it must be to learn a new game whilst playing in the toughest competition in the world, however more respect needs to be shown. Headlines like "hayne makes nfl look like childsplay" are pathetic
