Off-contract NRL star Jarryd Hayne has been arrested and charged by NSW police on Monday over sex assault allegations, the second incident to be raised against the player.

Hayne, 30, was being questioned by detectives at Ryde police station over an alleged incident in the Hunter region on the night of the 2018 NRL grand final on September 30.

“Detectives from the child abuse and sex crimes squad arrested a 30-year-old man at Ryde Police Station just after 4:00pm today,” a police spokeswoman said.

Hayne was later charged with aggravated sexual assault inflict actual bodily harm.

Bail is yet to be determined.

Nine Network reported last week a woman claimed that she suffered injuries during a sexual encounter with Hayne in the NSW Hunter Valley on September 30 and that she had photographs to back up her story.

Interesting piece on the news.com.au site suggesting it was the poor 49ers culture that has sent him off the rails.

While i have no doubt it played to his weaknesses (strengths??) I think it is a stretch to pinpoint it as the cause. Patterns of behavior (that have been made public) over a long period of time suggest he is fulfilling his destiny, and it had nothing to do with his athletic prowess.

Sad really, not in an sporting sense either. He sounds like a pretty misguided/ordinary human.

It's not about that tho. He's got that, as many pro athlete rapists have. It's about flexing power and contempt over women. You got your woman at home to clean and cook for you (a mother figure), and then still exercise your fame/money by seducing other women (often pornographic in nature those relationships, engaging in a myriad of acts seen and heard of). Like those former NFL players on the NFLN who were sexually harrassing the make up artist, trying to bed her, but the manner in which they tried was very caveman-ish and ribald.

Especially when in that supposed "poor culture" no other 49er was accused of rape except Hayne. Clearly trying to exonerate the Aussie/NRL guy Hayne by pointing the blame at Americans/NFL even tho Hayne is the bad egg.
