You can only play against the shit they put up
up in Vikings land they have an award for "Mr Mankato" - it's usually awarded to the long shot who impressed enough during pre-season and training camp to make the final roster - Hayne is a lay down misere for the "Mr San Francisco 49ers Training Facility" award.

Man.. Someone needs to get out to that Chargers back and tell him go get lower!! To bad it wasn't in open field, would have been more exciting.

The 9ers are seriously trying to develop his skills set, getting him to run routes and making plays for him in the air. Whilst he won't be a starter on offence, he is now a triple option player that they'll list. He can get some yards on the turf as well as play limited downs in the slot, match that with his ability as a PR and we have a rostered player. I'd expect him to be returning game 1 and getting a few touches on the ground.

If performing better than the starters in the pre-season meant you replaced them as the starter, the pre-season would be a different looking thing altogether. Do the numbers on some starting QBs and the 2nd/3rd stringers and you might see those QBs being replaced. It is a play management game for those starters. Running/throwing etc against other teams 2nd/3rd stringers doesn't make you the starter.
Like I said depends how he performs

Easily. Helps that he's getting nice face time too.

It's a circus, but i'm entertained

You never know what might happen on the injury front ausbacker my guess is he'll only get a look in if there are injuries to either Hyde or Bush.
No doubt but Hayne would have Hyde (who is the clear #1 and heir to Gore's throne), Reggie Bush, Kendall Hunter and quite possibly Mike Davis ahead of him on the depth chart at RB. I'm not saying he won't or can't make it in the NFL just he's pushing shit up a hill to supplant Hunter and Davis before biting into Hyde/Bush snaps.

I'm not that impressed with Hayne the NFL convert but I'm happy to acknowledge the guy has done as much as he can to earn a roster spot.

I think Hunter would be a good chance of being cut now.

Here's a situation. The 49ers place him on the 53 man roster so no other team acquires him via waivers, then in the few days before the first game, send him to the practice squad?

Is this allowed or is the 53 set for a certain time?

I was referring to the media hyping him up like the second coming of deion sanders, is it wrong to want an unbiased story from the media?
