Kennedy has been unbelievable this year considering the midfield he has feeding him the ball. If he had a Pendlebury or Ablett delivering him the ball he'd have another 20 goals this season IMO.

Yeah for sure - he is a very reliable player. His goal kicking and marking has been class this year. Roughead is the complete package though and his ability as a utility is awesome. Both will be AA

I would take Hawkins ahead of Buddy. He'll kick 80-100 next year if he can maintain his form/accuracy. He's a far better kick and much better contested mark. Buddy is better on the ground, but his inaccuracy in front of goal is a killer.

Roughy is a flat-track bully who I would trade in a heartbeat.

How's this going for you now, do you need help to take egg off your face?

Given the choice, I'd take either Roughy or Kennedy. Roughy's versatility is a huge weapon while Kennedy could be the CHF we need

Would love a huge target like Hawkins in my forward line but I think now this is definitely between Kennedy and Roughead. I found it really tough but when with Roughead. Just does everything so right and with so much class. The fact he can play in the ruck and midfield is handy as well.

Do you feel like a goose?

so just exclude what Hawkins did last year ay ;)

Hawkins has been playing with a crook back all year long while those other two are fully fit and healthy and yet, Hawkins is only 10 goals behind and has also contributed just as many assists as what Kennedy has.
Still taking more contested marks than those other two so be interesting to see how Hawkins fares when he begins to really turn it on from now until finals time.
However, one of the most important parts of Kennedy's game is his defensive work. He would be the clear frontrunner for key forwards in this regard and one of the leaders in terms of forwards of any size.

As for Roughead, his versatility is a feature, being able to play any number of roles and do them well.

Both bring more than just goals, assists or marks.

This year it'd have to be:

Roughead

Kennedy
Hawkins

Hawkins a bit out of touch this year..is he injured?

Roughead is in sensational form this year - has managed 50 goals whilst still playing as a utility for the hawks. Unbelievable effort by the big red.

Been carrying a bulged disc in his back most of the year apparently. They say it won't get worse by playing on, and won't get better from short to medium term rest, and so while he can still take a grab he can't cover as much territory nor jump as effectively at the ball.

For this year, definitely Roughead number one, followed by Kennedy and then Hawkins. Pretty simple.

So who would you guys say is better all these years later?

Jarryd Roughead or Hawkins lol.

Hawkins has truly reliable elite kick. Up there with the best. I hope rating him somewhere between currently 20-30th best forward in the game doesn't appear to be biased.

20-30 of only forwards?
He'd be bottom of the top 10. He's been fortunate that he's played in good teams, meaning we haven't seen him step up (feelings down year coincided with him being injured, so maybe we have?)

As a pure forward, Kennedy is the best of this generation Though

Without looking into the records 450 goals from 188 games in the modern era feels like an incredible strike rate.

Roughead is the most valuable and versatile of the 3 but Kennedy is the better forward IMO.

Hawkins a distant 3rd given how one dimensional he is.

All 3 are terrific tall forwards.

Hawkins just so strong that he'll win most wrestling matches but suffers a bit in terms of his agility and ability when the ball is below his knees. But he has suffered with back issues over recent years so that may make it seem worse than it is.

Kennedy is a great one-on-one player that will dominate a game if he can get a spacious 50 to work in. My only criticism is that he seems to pad his goal kicking stats with quite a lot of his goals coming in a handful of games against weaker opposition. But the other two could do the same thing if they wanted.

Roughead's strength comes in his versatility to play many different roles and all of them at a high level (KPF, roaming HF, crumber, ruck, rover and KPD). The only criticism I can think of is that he occasionally struggles to get into a game until later on, but in recent years due to that versatility it's not a very common thing for him as he can just work into the game via a different position.

I'd have Roughead first quite comfortably but then I'd struggle to split the other two. I'd probably lean towards Kennedy as his mobility would suit the Hawthorn game style better, but I wouldn't be unhappy with Hawkins leading out from the goal square either.

Hawkins' record against top 8 sides is still the best of them over their careers; which still has me comfortable in picking him.

As a stay at home forward, Hawkins has kicked 2 goals or less(and a few donuts) against Hawthorn 11 times(from 15 games) since 2010.

For a guy who barely leaves the 50 and has about 5kgs on each opponent that's not a record that puts him ahead of Kennedy or Roughead in my opinion.

Kennedy in the same period against Hawthorn has kicked 2 or less goals on only 4 occasions(from 11 games), as a comparison. 4 against the Cats(from 8 games) .

Roughead hasn't really been a stay at home forward every year like the other two over the same time, so the comparisons to goal tallies is kinda void in this instance, but he's still got less tallies of 2 or less goals against the Cats(8 from 13* games) than Hawkins has against the Hawks.

* one of those games he snapped his Achilles in the first half.
