Looks like he has lost a great deal of weight, judging from the picture in the paper…
Wonder what position Collingwood have in mind for him?
…maybe a midfield role, then pinch hitting up forward…

According to the club website he won the first 2km time trial. I know there is a long way to go but that is a very positive sign.

That is very impressive.... i have always been a fan of all of the clokes...

Cam will be a great player if he loses some of his fat and gets some confidence back... those shoulder injuries have made him pretty shaky when it comes to pack marks...

Could be a genuine utlility in future years - defence, forward, tall midfield/ruck option - wherever required as the game circumstances demand.

He's still a huge chance to be a successful footballer. He has the number one asset a footballer needs - attitude. He needs to model himself on Glen Archer with whom he shares similar traits - toughness, fitness, strong marking, average skills, undersized for key position yet capable of playing well against taller opponents. If Archer can do it, so can C1.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

He is not even in the same league as Archer, Jason Cloke is the worst footballer to ever pull on a Collingwood Jumper and if his name wasn't Cloke he wouldn't have ever played a game of AFL.

He is not tough, is not fit and is not a strong mark the only thing I agree with you on is that his skills are very average.

The only thing he does well is give away free kicks, and turn the ball over.

Not that you had any respect leading up to this last statement, but you've well and truly proven yourself to be an ignoramus with the final comment!

I second that- hate reading this crap about one of our players- especially when it's not even close to being deserved...

I like Clokey and hope he proves all the knockers wrong....

Never said he was.

I said he should model himself on Archer, who was a good player who turned himself into an all time great. He'll never be quite as good as Archer, but he does has the capacity to be a long serving, valuable and versatile player for Collingwood.

Did anyone else think "if Clokey won the time-trial...WTF were the rest of them doing?"

;)
good signs yes

but andrew williams would always romp these things in

if clokey is winning time trials surely hed be a chance as a cam mooney floating tall type?

Clokey is a natural defender. He can't play up forward, and he definitely struggles in the ruck. With his good football brain, he should become a very handy defender for us over the next 6-7 years.

Watch this guy excel under Carey's tutelage.

I liked the way J.Cloke finished off last season. Whether he makes a forward or not is yet to be determined although having Carey there we will know whether he will make the grade by this time next year.

I would like to be banned from the Collingwood Board.

Like I take any notice of anything you have to say FIGJAM, that name says it all.

I am entitled to my own opinion and that is exactly what it is "MY OPINION".

I watched this kid work his way through the Eastern Rangers squads at under 14-16 level and he was a dud, he used to get picked because of his name whilst better players missed out.

All of you who are deluded enough to think that he could be like Archer or that he will really shine next year are idiot's and obviously know nothing about football let alone the Pies.

J.Cloke has been on the list now for how many years and he could only crack our best 22 when 12 of our best were out, he has had 1 ok year and that was 2002 until everyone worked out that he was only good as a 3rd man up.

He gives 100% yes, and he can't be faulted for that but so do thousands of other footballers around the country every year.......should they be playing AFL because they have a crack......NO

Fitzy, you can't belittle people for optimism. Any Archer comparrison is a very long bow to draw, but the point is and was, that even in today's game of the super athlete, there are exceptions to the rule.

I personally share your view to an extent, but I also consider that there is scope for players to self improve. Rhyce is an example.

At least we're getting positive reports on J-Clo. If he ever gets remotely close to his own ego in terms of actual performance, then we'll have a handy player.

We had almost zero injuries in our defence in 2005. Thats why he couldnt get a game> That and the fact that MM refused to select him after scapegoating him after the Freo game. He finished off the season well, and looks to be in outstanding preseason shape. Not much more you can ask for from somebody who was on the scrapheap midseason.

Fair point FIGJAM, and yes there is definately scope for improvement as there was with Rhyce but unfortunately with J-Clo i think all he will ever be is an average footballer.

Positive reports are good, but we have to take of the rose coloured glasses and see things for what they really are, personally i don't think he will ever make it but if he does I will be the first to congratulate him and admit I was wrong.

Anyone that believes Cloke, or ANY of the Clokes for that matter, isn't a worthwhile player, take a look at the age of these 3 and realise that you cannot ask so much from such an young group, i understand opposition supporter's criticism of Collingwood fans when it comes to our players, we either over rate them as superstars of the game or we undermine there value so much that they are 'duds' and 'useless'
Stop being so critical of the bloke and wait until he gets a chance to prove himself properly, i read his article last year in the Herald Sun, he has shown his commitment to Collingwood, he has shown he is hungry, thats more then enough for me, let the skills develop from there and we have ourselves a very good player..
