Having been through Lever, McGovern, Tippett, Danger this really has all the hallmarks of those experiences. Death by a thousand cuts, all individually explainable away, but leading to the inevitable decision that even those living our best denials could see coming.

Lever, McGovern, Tippett and Danger all of course walked out on a relatively successful team reflecting poorly on us, but hopefully well in this precise situation.

Why wouldn't North have allowed him to come back from Perth and spend Mothers Day with his Mum? Seems like a no brainer if you are trying to look after your interstate players.
Also seems like a no brainer for a player from SA at North, thinking about wanting to leave the Club to return to SA.

How stupid could North be? Well its North after all.

Smacks of paranoia.

The longer he puts off extension talks, the more paranoid North will get.

Like all professional, money talks a lot more to some. Hopefully, we are finally ditch the spreading of the salary cap across our list adopted from Geelong which doesn't work anymore and now changed by throwing the rumour $850K at JHF. We should have given half of the $400K of MacKay's salary to both Lever and McGovern and increased their offer from the reported $550K to $750K or at least offer this to Lever as we all knew McGovern wasn't worth the $750K which Carlton offered him.

Agree with the letting McNuggets leave.
Should have given much more to Charlie Cameron and Jake Lever.
I think Jake was set on leaving regardless really, but we will probably never know.
Charlie Cameron should have been given a much bigger contract and been proposed.

I thought Lever was pissed off with the initial $500K we offered him and then we increased this by a measly $50K after Walker choose to take a pay cut? MacKay should have taken a pay cut by getting rid of him.

The problem with CC's contract is that we over committed to Betts. That was the mistake.

Mind you its easy for me to sit back and say this in hindsight.

Agree, this stuff reflects something else going on underneath

Maybe he’s started to believe he’s special or just resents playing there?

Diva behaviour often forewarns an exit

Remember when players were getting mouthy at Danger during games in 2015 because they all knew he was leaving?
Danger lashed out, couldn't help himself.

My reasoning is nothing to do with his father, its based on other stuff. Although I will say adding his father's name to his surname just before the draft sends a signal dont you think? Anyway, time will tell.
More that the lad is a family man, and was a flight risk, not so much that he wants to play at Port, that's a erroneous conclusion (might be true, but unrelated to him becoming a man and choosing his step fathers name as his own).

Interesting pieces falling here.

Noise Nobel is losing the players.

Noise North will relocate to Tasmania.

JHF home sick or just missing his family a lot (reading between the lines here).

Adelaide club/s rumoured to be putting mega deals in front of JHF guaranteeing long term security regardless of worse case scenario (ongoing injuries), living back at home.

The drums are beating louder.

I guarantee you this. IF there is a chance that Horne Francis could be prized out of North to come back to SA, we absolutely will have to compete with Port for his signature as they WILL throw the sink to get him and they do have a decent record of getting their man when they really want them - Dawson aside.

North in a tough position if the smoke is real. Which it usually is.
Do they wait until next year when Crows could offer likely a pick around 7-8 and 2024 first, or trade this year for top 5 pick, 2023 first and possibly a player.
Or worse wait until he nominates Port Adelaide and they get much, much less.
Yep , offer our 2022 and 2023 first for him.

Wonder if the pear could better that?

North should never have been in the AFL to begin with.

Relocation at least saves them. Tassie Kangaroos. :thumbsu: :drunk:

Nekminnit Tassie Devils.:rainbow:

if he does want to come home..

would he play for the crows?.. or not?.. would he be port bound?

who knows… but if we didnt at the very least have Nicksy sit down with him last year (before and during that trade period) and ask him if he would be keen to play for us before offering up 3 first round draft picks, two of which would be top 5 picks, to North for pick 1… then the crew running the list management at the club, and any one else involved, needs to be shot.

theres no way they wouldnt have asked the kid if he’d be happy to play for the crows before making that unbelievably enormous an offer to North for pick 1..

so if he’s said he’s willing to play for the crows in the very recent past… then you’d have to think he’d be willing to say it again in the near future..

100% - he would know just how keen we were to secure his services. The unknown is what port would offer up and my guess is the farm and if he would rather play for them if he wants back to SA

Ideally North want both SA teams to offer big trades/draft picks.

If its just one team, it complicates things for them.

We have to be involved, even if he doesnt want to really join us, just so we drive up his price.

can you imagine the players they would be trying to offload to North to try and seal the deal..it would be a free for all down the port
Would they have the players to do it?
They wouldn’t trade Butters.
Duursma wouldn’t fetch much in return.
Rozee wouldn’t agree to leave.
Georgiadis would go to WA before Victoria, and really they need a decent forward to build around going forward.
Wines? They just signed him up.
Houstan? Maybe.
Amon? Maybe.

It’s not like years ago when they could get first rounders for Wingard and Polec.
