Why is it I nearly call him McCarthy.
Anyway, good to look at nice smile and not a bad player either. I remember when he first came to us, my friends daughter had her North top on with 5 on it (a heartbroken Stewie fan)and these North supporters laughed at her and said your not really a McCartney fan are you. I had watched him in the Ansett cup matches and if you remember he was fantastic, but when we got to the real thing he seemed to drop off in the beginning, but then he picked up and hasnt looked back since (well 99 grand final being the exception) how p....ed of with him were you then, what a stupid thing to do, oh well he paid the ultimate price for that one, lets hope he gets another chance soon. A really nice guy and he does actually handle the bookings at Jetset.

When we first got him everybody I knew was bagging the Roos saying this bloke's a two-club reject. I said nah this bloke will be a good pick up, will fill CHB and he's got a bit of c--- in him, we need a bit of aggro.
I was right, they were wrong. Go Jase, as long as you play 20 consistent games a year I will condone your annual random acts of violence on opposition CHFs. Go the bash mate just don't do it in the weeks before the GF.

Jason, how could I ever have doubted you? When we first got him, my first thought was "Keenan Reynolds, all is forgiven, you can come back now". He did very little in his first dozen or so games for us, but the turning point came at a game versus St. Kilda at Arctic Park. At that point, the Saints were favourites and North were a side that were drifting. McCartney thrashed Everitt, and we won comfortably, and that started our winning run that led us to the Grand Final. Since then, McCartney has been one of ours most consistent players and has become my favourite player on the list.

As for this season, I expect to see the same week in week out solid performances that we've seen from him in the past year and a half. Those outside Arden Street don't rate him, but we know better. Onya Jase!

Denis Pagan and the recruiters need to take a bow because I thought he was a complete joke - makes up for all of the dud recycled players. His 2000 was a joy to behold.

I will admit, that when he first came across, like everyone else I thought - gees we have recruited a real dud here. It did take me half a season to come around to think - this guy isn't that bad. Things, just got better for him, but what really impressed me was the way he handled himself after the 99 GF. Despite being totally disappointed in missing out, he demonstrated the qualities that make a great clubman..

An absolute hack when he was recruited, and still a hack.......................................................................................................................................................That is, until 2000, and then he realised that his skills were limited, and if he played within the limits of his ability, he could be a good player.

His courage and commitment were something I never doubted, but shit he gave me some laughs when he tried to do the "clever" things.(Not as many as Corey though)
Now I regard him as one of our better players, and I must say, I admire the way he has stuck at it.
