How do you think Jason Torney will go next year? Is he a good return for Kane Johnson? Will he be a regular in the side?

I reckon we've done alright to get Carey and Torney in return for Johnson and some draft picks in whats supposed to be a weak draft.

I think he could be a very useful addition to our backline, a 25yo with 100+ games experience. I don't know how many games he's likely to play next year, I suspect he'll be competing for a spot in the side with someone like Andrew Crowell.

If I say it once ill say it again (think thats how it goes :p) Torney will fit into ur side like a glove. He is a gun player. You have done very well to pick up the 2 (Carey and Torney) and ur team is now complete pretty much. Maybe Premiers 2003?

Yeah I think Torney's a pretty good fit for the team, adds a bit of depth and might free up an Edwards, Bickley, Stiffy etc. type to play more time in the midfield or elsewhere around the ground. Nothing special but not a hack either.

Welcome home Jason.

Congratulations on your premiership medallion in approximately 11 months

:p

ur asking for it.. how do you think you would feel from my point of view. lol

lol I think we should all be happy.

When I first saw it I thought we gave too much..

But when I think of it.. we got a fresh and fit, and a possibly firing at all cylinders wayne carey... a decent pick.. and a good middle aged defender who will be coming into his peak.. at just 25 yrs old (amazingly, 25 isnt old).. he is good value.

Kangaroos did very well with 4 and 20, but they did lose their best player, regardless of the circumstances.. this is WAYNE CAREY we are talking about.

Richmond have a young midfielder who will be giving great service to Richo and Ottens, and with fellow midfielders such as Bowden, Campbell it looks very promising. Devaluing your first 3 picks and giving away Torney to save salary space for Johnson will be considered a success for the present and future.

If Carey helps this team get a flag next season.. we wouldve won the trade hands down IMO. But the great thing also is that he will help our other young players such as Fitzgerald, Schell, Hentschel and someone maybe like Perrie to develop there games. He will be a good coach for our forwards.

Just think Ladies and Gentleman... Fitzy, Carey and Stevo all together up forward:D :D :D

When I 1st saw the trade, reckon we did well with the Richmond side of things, but got done with the Kangaroos (reckon #4 should have done). But with the lack of supposed depth in the draft & the fact we were always going to pay a premium for a forward like Carey, the deal aint that bad .... particularly when we are celebrating the 2003 premiership cup. :D

I think the Crows will lose a bit in the midfield with the loss of Johnson..

Torney is more of a running half-back, not a regular midfielder, so the responsibility is going to be more on players like Edwards, McCleod and Riccuito perform week in, week out to cover the loss of Johnson.

when nige decides to give the game away (hpefully not too soon) we need to find a defencer right? - enter Jason Torney. He can play in defence & in the meantime he frees up smarty to run from defence (which nige is the best at doing) or he frees tyson so he can run around in the mid-field.

jason is a very good pick IMHO

ADELAIDE CROWS - 2003 AFL PREMIERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree.

I loved Jason down at Tigerland, he was reliable, hardworking and was a very good clubman.

You guys have got a good honest player that will easily slot into your best 22, trust me.

I think the trade in the end will work out to be a win - win - win trade.

And just a little thanks to all you Adelaide supporters on this board for not being total imbeciles throughout the whole affair, unlike someother group of supporters! I would describe them as morons. You know who im talking about;) :D ;)

Good luck Jason Torney.

One of my favorite Tiger players. Also one of the few at Richmond who had true grit and courage. Lost count of how many times I've seen him put his body on the line for the team.

Sorry to see him go.

Will fit into your backline nicely.
