Having played for both Claremont and Port Adelaide made him pretty bloody heroic in my eyes.
A very sad day when one of your all-time sporting heroes retires.FAMILY THE MAIN FOCUS FOR RETIRING CRABB
By Chris Pike
JAXON Crabb's love runs deep for the Claremont Football Club and he will go down as a champion player, but in the end wanting time with his family meant the 2009 WAFL season was always likely to be his last.
Crabb and his wife Charmian have a young daughter Georgia who through work and football commitments, he hasn’t had the time to spend with he would have liked.
That, and the desire to finish playing while still contributing, made his decision to retire be one that he is comfortable with. In an amazing twist of fate, his 188th and final Claremont game on Saturday against Perth will be Georgia's second birthday.
While Claremont has always been like a second home to Crabb since he arrived to play colts in 1995 and has been there ever since aside from his one year with Port Adelaide in 2002, the calling of family has won out in the end for the 29-year-old.
