And rather than cherry picking a tiny sample size, how many from the draft overall played games? And if a lot did, then the excuse "there was no VFL" doesn't really work, right?

Rantall has been physically ready since day 1 and we've been forced to play kids who were clearly not ready yet he is still no where near a game, why is that?

It was widely reported when we drafted Rantall and Bianco, we were drafting one kid who had a nice game but wasn't close to it physically and one kid who was athletically very strong but had a fair bit of work to do on his game. They didn't get as much development in their first year as expected and year 2 is 4 games in. It's hardly time to put a pen through either of them yet, unless you are an insider who has greater knowledge than just Rantall hasn't played a senior game yet.

No one is putting a pen through them, but at this stage there are question marks about whether either will even be on the list next year. Plenty of kids are delisted after their initial contracts

Not that many anymore. Clubs have shifted a fair bit in that regard. There are obviously question marks on every kid at every club who isn't playing seniors. But I'm pretty confident that they'll still be on our list next year. Bianco in particular was one we pushed up into the practice match against Geelong and didn't look terrible.

From anyone that isn't the most perpetual defeatist on the bigfooty?

from the lack of the exposed form today they are just as likely to NOT be delisted - why you are constantly negative defies logic.

My comments accurately reflect the position the club finds itself in, you're the one who can't see reality.

We have some dark years coming up.

mate there have never been fairer days ahead for Coll in the total history of your posting.

And no - the lack of exposed form is not a reason to say the kids will be delisted at years end.

Year 2 is zero games in for the VFL players!

There was no VFL for any clubs, let other clubs debuted a lot of 1st year kids, we even gave Ruscoe a game and Keane despite not being ready so that excuse doesn't really work.

Lynch, Ruscoe, Brown, Kelly, Keane, and A2B2 all debuted in 2020. That's 6 debutantes introduced last year. That's on top of getting games into guys with <50 games exposure like IQ, Noble, Cameron, Cal Brown, Sier, and Daicos. A total of 40 players used. The Doggies the only other final 8 side to use as many.

Woulkldn't have thought its a tiny sample given its the 16 picks that form the range that our 3 kids were picked in. Still here is more detail. It illustrates pretty clearly the top kids play early and often and it slides after that.

Top 15 picks all played senior footy and played more games clearly than the kids after that

From there

Pick 16 0 games
Pick 17 0 games
Pick 18 7 games
Pick 19 0 games
Pick 20 2 games
Pick 21 2 games
Pick 22 1 game
Pick 23 0 games
Pick 24 8 games
Pick 25 0 games
Pick 26 0 games
Pick 27 2 games
Pick 28 0 games
Pick 29 1 game
Pick 30 0 games
Pick 31 0 games
Pick 32 9 games
Pick 33 0 games
Pick 34 10 games
Pick 35 3 games
Pick 36 4 games
Pick 37 5 games
Pick 38 0 games
Pick 39 2 games

so
11 of the 24 played 0 games
2 played 1 game
4 played 2 games
7 played 3 games of more

As previously note after that picks 40 to 55 where our picks were

12 played 0 games
1 played 1 game
1 played 2 games
1 played 4 games
1 played 5 games

Another way to look at it is only 5 kids of the 40 in the range pick 16-55 played more games than the Collingwood recruit that got most games for us, Ruscoe. That Rantall didnt get a game, Bianco as well, just means they joined the 22 of 40 from this group that didn't debut.

You're going too early on this one.

Not to mention that presumably a lot of those kids who got games were from non Victorian teams. These teams not as disrupted by having to live interstate ( and in hubs) for the entire season, giving them a far better preparation. Or they were a bit older. Or were from bottom four clubs. Or a combination of the above.

Of the debutants who played more than two games in that draft range..

Georgiades... Port
Schoenberg. crows turned 19 in feb
Rivers . Melbourne turned 19 in July
Mahoney North Melbourne
Perez North Melbourne
Taylor Sydney 19 in May
Coleman Brisbane turned 19 in March

So of the Melbourne based clubs that didn’t finish second last...... one new player played more than two games.

Good point

Looking at that group of 24, picks 16-39, 11 were interstate clubs and 7 of them debuted

Well thought through, but you left yourself wide open -

Because, you're saying that we drafted a pair of cry baby hub boys who probably spent last season consoling with and hugging Million dollar Grundy - the sooky la la hub boy.

Disagree here. Ruscoe, Rantall and Bianco have played numerous intra club, hub friendlies, VFL and AFL preseason games etc

Club has seen plenty of that draft trio in competitive action. Ruscoe got games early, Bianco would’ve probably played seniors by now if not for injuries. Rantall is unheard of in comparison.

Hope the kid gets a look in this week instead of expecting Greenwood to play career best midfield footy at the age of 32

Theres nothing like the real thing though. Ruscoe was also unheard of when he was called up. Rantall as you say might get a callup this week.

Personally I'm happy for Greenwood to stay in the 22 and Mayne go out instead, depending on how many compulsory outs we have. . Theres plenty of room for debutants either way. Whether its Rantall, Macrae or McInnes I dont really care. Cant wait for the VFL to start so these kids can have some continuity to show what they have got.

Man you just go from thread to thread around here and see a very similar name Kappa spitting negativity everywhere.

I mean come on. At what point do you stop saying everyones wrong and that you’re the one ‘in reality’, and realise that maybe you do just spill out constant negative energy. Its never going to get you anywhere. Especially in more important places that aren’t Bigfooty.

I don't say everyone's wrong, most people agree with me in general about the state of the club, check the autopsy threads.

Now the 2020 draftees have gone past Rantall after 1 preseason, still don't think there's a problem?
