You would be mad to not take a straight swap and we'd be mad to offer it. Schulz has only just tuned 22 FFS!! Has been in great form in the VFL and a victim of the Richocentric game play at senior level. FWIW Steven Salopek has always said that Schulz will become one of the elite players from that draft.

That’s a used car salesmen line. If Jay Shultz was that good and had so much potential why is the 16th club prepared to off load him?

Because our forward line isn't the problem wise arse. Shulz is a key position forward while richo, brown, pettifer and the love child Riewolt are in the line up he wont be the focal point he deserves to be.

The whole cant get a game in a bottom team argument is pathetic and ill informed. Good key forwrads play better footy at better clubs, richo may be one of the all time greats if he was burdened by the yellow and black guernsey! sad but true. Our delivery to forwards has been the worst of any team in the last 20 years. Schulz would kick plenty of goals for the crows i assure you.

How about you shoot yourself in the foot, while many other Vic teams express an interest.

You miss out completely.

I hope your officials attitudes aren't the same as yours, as you'll be promptly laughed out of the building.

we will see come draft time, Meesens wants out and wants to come to Melb... We dont have any fit ruckmen at all and we have first pick in the PSD.... Meeson, just tell crows what the deal is or walk away, he is uncontracted so crows have no control and no say unless he lets them. we will pay him what he wants, give him a decent contract and he walks straight into our starting 18... better than playing for Norwood
its just like what we did with freo and simmonds....
sit on your hands crows and get nothing your choice;)

Richo has 2 year left (tops)

Brown and Pettifer are small mid sized forward – they are very good players but wouldn’t keep a tall key position player out of a side. And to be a premiership side you will need more than Jack Riewoldt as a key marking forward.

Jack Riewoldt, Nathan Brown, Kane Pettifer and Jay Shultz’s should be able to co exist in the same forward line if he had that much potential. Suggesting Mathew Richardson is stopping him from being the focal point is just an excuse.

Like I said if he was that good and had that much potential no one would be looking at off loading him, you would work with him. He is a dud and someone we should steer well clear of.

Ok guys, play nice.

Meesen : I think he offers a reasonable amount to a side who needs to bolster their ruck stocks. I think a trade for a draft pick between 15 and 30 is about all we're going to get so perhaps the Crows may need to accept something like that ? Competition for his signature may boost his price as there are a number of clubs who'd like to take him off our hands.

Schultz : I dont mind the bloke and would entertain the thought of trading for him if Mcgregor departs (as rumoured). Bearing in mind Perrie is 99% gone, he would provide good insurance for us at the very least and has sticky hands. What is he worth ? I'd say probably pick 30 in an open draft, so maybe our second rounder, possibly 3rd. Hopefully in a good side he may come good and prove to be a good pick up.

Meyer : Rated highly as a junior but hasnt shown much at Richmond. Vanilla midfielders are a dime a dozen, so perhaps a very late draft pick or not at all.

I'm a big fan of trading. None of this, lets draft 10 kids and wait 5 years for them to develop. C'mon AFC, lets be active come trade week.

Like I said before; you know this as a fact?

His manager and the Adelaide football club will be sitting down to discuss his next contract next week.

Just like Allan Didak wanting to return home, its just speculation at this point.

We’re in a very precarious position regarding our list management but we don’t need to go and do stupid things like draft (or even trade) for Jay Schultz, Cameron Faulkner or even Jordan McMahon.

If we venture into the trading process this year and it looks highly likely that we will, we should aim for draft picks as apposed to recycled players from other clubs. Let’s get as many picks as we can inside the top 35 and rebuild the list from there.

YES!!!! I think that this is the best way to go. It is becoming more and more difficult to trade decent players between clubs because they just usually end up in a stand-off. With people saying that this is a weak draft and us having some players with decent market value we should make a run on getting as many early pick as we can and get in some good youngsters, and lets face it we usually do really well from our later picks it's our early one's that we've struggled with in the past.

Your assuming Meesen would want to play for a cellar dweller.

I'm sure we could find another club in Melbourne who need a ruckman, given they are in demand.

Good luck getting anything for Meyer...

Re: Jay Schulz

I think Jay will be a far better player in a team that doesn't contain Richo. Whether that's with us in a couple of years or with Adelaide i'm not sure. I also agree that he'd benefit from the delivery he could get from Adelaide's midfield. I'm sure he'd salivate at the prospect of Goodwin, Edwards, Knights, Thompson and co delivering him the ball as the focal point of a forward line.
That said, i think that Meesen + 3rd round for Meyer + Schulz is way over the top. Two first rounders that haven't done much for another first rounder that hasn't done anything + an ordinary pick in a weak draft is a definite no-go.
Maybe more like
Meesen + Mattner for Meyer + Schulz

you want meesen & mattener for 2 worthless, delist calibre players?

party on dude :thumbsu:

So is Neil Craig IF THE TRADE CAN IMPROVE THE LIST. That is why we have had few trades over the last 2 years. Nothing available that would have improved our list. You'd need to get better than you have above!

Forget these hacks. I'm just hoping Craig finally comes good on his promise to get a lot of kids into the club.
We have a lot of kids in the club already.. Unfortunately we have a lot on our list who have been sidelined with injury.
Here are a few youngsters: Douglas, Mackay, MAric,McIntyre, Meesen, Pfeiffer, Sellar, Tippett, Griffin, Vince, Hinge and some just a bit older Reilly. Mattner,Hentschel, Jericho, Campbell, Johncock,Knights.
I believe that too many "youngsters" are burnt out/injured by playing AFL too early. Many are just not physically ready until they are at least 20 and some taller ones at 22-23. The development of these players above is our future next year and beyond. Draft picks will simply be there for the next couple of years developing.
