Recommitted Jay Schulz [re-signed]

If Freo land McCarthy then they surely won't go after Schulz.

He'd be a good fit at Essendon IMO. I know they haven't really decided on whether to rebuild or reload, but he'd be work nicely with Daniher and let Hooker and Hurley stay where they belong.

I was just getting wound up for a month of sledging and flame wars with Port people. It would be an anti-climax.

Seriously though I think we'd have room for both. Three decent key forwards is still not too many.
McCarthy and Schulz (and Pav if he goes on) are probably all best close to goal. I'd say bringing in 1 would do you and keep developing either Taberner or Pearce as an up the ground CHF. If Pav doesn't go on then you could get both but that's giving up a bit in trade value and no doubt you want to keep bringing in other talent for when the over 30's go.

Good on him for showing loyalty but not sure how Dixon, Lobbe, Ryder, Schulz and Westoff all fit in the same team.

One ruckman, one resting ruck forward, Dixon forward, Westoff and..?

Good luck to him though.

Dixon is Schulz replacement and will suck up the salary that you have available.

Why hasn't Schulz signed?

Do you think your best 22 can really accommodate another extra tall player?

Where do you see the flexibility in your salary cap to satisfy Dixon?

But the real thing for me with Port is that you end up with at least 3 and possibly 4 of Ryder, Shulz, Dixon, Lobbe and Westhoff in the forward line. Not good imo.
EAD mate.

Let's play a game of yes or no.

Do you think Port is recruiting Dixon?
Will it cost Port a heap in a trade and contract amount and length to do this?
Will Dixon play forward with Lobbe and Ryder around?

So even if they haven't shown him the door even blind Freddy can see that part is clearly devaluing the role and influence Schulz would have atort at the least.

Denying this is just big footy pigheadedness. Port is saying with its actions,"We really don't need you as much any more Jay."

You can't deny this.
Denied and proven. Shown up to be the idiot you are.
We always wanted him, EAD again.

Loyalty played no part , Freo pulled their offer off the table .

People don't realise westhoff isn't a tall. He is a flanker / wingman with kpp height. He has better mobility , better skills and fitness then most mids in the league .. Therefore he is not a liability as a tall.

We will be playing two rucks and two key forwards. Lobbe , Ryder , dixon , Schulz ...

Stupid comment. He could have accepted the offer when it was there even if it has been pulled , which just seems to be your hearsay.

It seems more likely he wanted to stay at port , but had offers for more years from freo , and he was hoping port would up their offer. They didn't , he signed. Which fits everything we have been told.

Are you running down the street naked celebrating? It must be the most amazing moment of your life. Celebrating the delusional belief that this proves you right.

Schulz role has been devalued and I'll stand proven correct next season. His minutes will be down, his goals will be down, the amount of times he is Ports forward target will go down. So bookmark it and we'll see.

This proves nothing. You are a fool.

This is especially true if Freo pulled the deal.

Wow you are sore, lols.

Wow you are sore, lols.

Why?

Completely illogical comment from you. Nothing I have said has been disproven yet.

His role at Port will reduce, it would have been larger at Freo. As I said above good luck to him.

You're the one acting like a 12 year old telling people to EAD. Do you do fart jokes as well?

Read the thread, you were banging on about this that and the other and have been proven wrong on all accounts. You were disrespectful to Schulz who is a much loved player at Port. And to Port for saying we don't value him. Schulz loves us we love him, deal done EAD.

Go have a chamomile. I don't really care. You've proven nothing and I don't have to do or say anything extra to show you up. You're doing fine by yourself.

No sub next year remember? So Ryder first ruck with Dixon (contested marking key forward), Schulz (leading key forward) and Westhoff (athletic key forward/swingman) as our three talls and Lobbe providing a chop out for Ryder while Paddy goes forward to rest and Schulz goes to the bench to rest and recover. Simple. We'd burn 4 of our 80 rotations but in reality because you can make 4 changes before the start of every quarter we'd still have 80 rotations to play with.

Lobbe and Ryder together won't work, all the good ruckmen like Sandilands, Goldstein, Jacobs, Natanui and Ryder and Lobbe only do their best work if they are the No1 ruck and do 75-80% of the work, if Ryder is the man Lobbe will be out

Thanks man from the future ...

Can you please also tell me the lottery numbers?

Nobody knows how well it will work in the coming season. Maybe it does maybe it doesn't ...

Name one AFL team that has two top line ruckmen playing together in the same team?

If all are fit then I think that's a headache the selection panel will be happy to have. Given Dixon's injury history, Schulz's age and the elephant in the room that is the WADA appeal it's doubtful all five will be available for selection every week.

As Westhoff could effectively play as a midfielder I'm not sure it's really the problem you make it out to be.

Two top line ruckman? What? The question you want to ask if they can carry two ruck men..

Whether they are better as first rucks aren't as important. What is important is whether one or both of them can be utilised elsewhere on the ground when not rucking.

What sides carried two rucks this year?

Well only freo , west coast , hawthorn and sydney for starters .. The top finishing sides of the regular season.

The only question is if one of Ryder lobbe can be as good a second ruck / forward as Zac Clarke , Sinclair , hale and Tippett . Which I think they can.

Although another question might be would port be served better by having one ruck , and an extra runner ? Maybe ?

That's 1 tall too many imo.

Imo, lobbe misses out. Shultz, Dixon/Ryder up forward with Westoff is tall enough. Throw in Ryder/lobbe too is way too top heavy, even with 4 on the bench.

Every chance that Lobbe either gets traded or ends up in the SANFL next year.
I would trade lobbe as has good value & there are teams in need of a lead ruckman... & kept redden as backup in case of injury... But gather redden is cooked if you are delisting.
