We all remember that day in 2004 when he kicked 6 against the Lions and has been much maligned around these parts since... and quite rightly so!
But, IMO Sarge played his best game for the club yesterday.
20 possessions, 9 marks, 4 tackles + ran hard to the forward line to kick an important goal.
Loved that one HUGE spoil from 3 deep when he ended up about 8 feet in the air, punched the ball areound 20 meters forward & we goaled from the ensuing play.
Stay healthy Sarge, we love your work of late! :thumbsu:

Is coming on nicely. Was within a bees diaphragm of being traded to port last year but luckily he stayed. I'd be spitting if he went to them and started playing well.

perhaps a sign we need to give our younger kids more time, its hard enough to play at AFL level let alone play in a side that struggles to be competitve each week.

very good user of the footy from the back half too, many of his kicks are like tracer bullets and never seems to be too flustered back there

keep it up sarge!:thumbsu:

It is amazing to me to see all these players all of a sudden start playing well at the same time. Geelong had a similar point last year, where the penny dropped and they all started playing well, I remember it was about 1 minute into the Geelong Richmond game!

Not saying we are of Geelong standard, but it is a good sign that these type of players are turning it around for us.

I've been saying it for a while...

A little bit of extra experience, fitness and confidence was all that was needed.

Every player stepped up a little bit in fitness with another pre-season/more mature body, and started getting a bit more space ( faster/stronger), and using that space to make better disposals ( experience ), so both their teammates get more confidence in them and run harder to give them an option, and they get more confidence in themselves to do what needs to be done to get the ball to them.

We're not there yet, but they're starting to turn the corner.

The team is still young ( Lids is 'old' for this team, and he just turned 21! ), so will keep getting physically better for another 2 or 3 years, and the confidence is still probably pretty fragile..They know they can play, but probably still have doubts about matching it with the top teams.

Yep, he's 23 now. I think it's time for him to start holding down CHB. Had his best game of the season this week, and all his other games have been solid so far.

Ah, I certainly can't fault his efforts yesterday but I do recall him turning the ball over quite often. I'd probably give him a 6/10 for yesterday.

he looks great at CHB! he could very well be a adam hunter type, we all know he can play forward and now he is showing us that he can play back!

Great outcome for the side!

Agree with that.
At the time I sort of got the feeling Miller was playing games.
Apparently Jay was put on the table at a price.... when there was a bite he raised the offer.

I'm guessing, but I got the feeling they didn't want him to go anywhere.... they just wanted to send him a message.

As history has shown Port are no pushovers at the trading table and maybe Miller just didn't want another Rodan incident.

Either way seems that Jay has shown his worth. I've always thought he was a keeper. Just a confidence player that has taken time.

The only thing I'd say about his game is that he needs to lift his intensity - at time he looks like he's having a kick in the park.

Hehe...yep, Rodan pinwheeling out of the centre hitting Schulz would hurt.

He's a better player than Westhoff at this stage, arguably better than Tredrea, and would be playing CHF for them right now.

No doubt about it. We've only just got the 2004 and before draftees up and playing at 60-80% of their ability this year, we have lots of patience left to be rewarded over the next 3-4 years.
