Toast Jay Schulz

Key forward has space, has his leads honored, takes marks, kicks goals.

I am both shocked and awed.

Marked brilliantly and kicked truly. Great game from the Serge!

I look forward to more of it in the future.

(Also liked the glove)

7.1 from what, 11 kicks ? Awesome display and great also to see Cam kick 3 from 6 kicks without getting in Schulz's way.

Maybe it's the great mans influence?

He has got a good mark on him though. That's what was suggested pushed him in front of Salter during the pre season.

It's sad everyone wants a new coach other than the board. I'm not sure Laidley is the answer.

What is also good is the key forwards are kicking goals again, great to see.

Schultz played well today but im not getting carried away with it it seems to me that it will be a very very rare sight that he will have games that produce much i dont think the man is that capable at this level against the better sides he wont get a sniff. I wish i was wrong for him and the club but unfortunately im not.
Davenport is another scored four goals early in the season but it is an aberration he does not have the skill.
Sometimes these lesser players are not given close attention and the can slip through and do a bit of damage but it is rare that they continue to perform.

That performance from Jay, to me, did not look like an "exception to a rule" sort of performance. That looked like a class. Great movement, strong marking and lethal kicking for goal. Let's just hope Schulzy can keep it up.

The thing is, strong marking and lethal kicking for goal have (so far) been exceptions to the rule. If he can keep anywhere near that standard up, I'll be absolutely thrilled, but TBH I wouldn't be surprised if he can't.

This.

He looked like a natural and an experienced forward today. Watching him felt like a last supper. He will not be given that opportunity for the rest of the year, unless Ebert get injured again.

Schulzy just had surgery. Hopefully this champion can kick another big bag next year.

I know our resurgence has brought in new fan favourites like Boak, Hartlett, Wingard, Wines, a reinvigorated Hoff, but I can never forget the one guy that would give life and limb during our darkest times, who threw everything he had at the ball and man, who backed up his efforts time and time again, and who also blended his relentless Tommy Logan like attitude, with some extraordinary skill and flair not seen at the PAFC possibly ever during its AFL era from a big forward like that. Schulz gave me a reason to watch us from start to finish just about every game since his 2010 debut vs North til round 1 2013. Now I have a lot more reasons to tune in, but the hope that he'll play a blinder, take a screamer, and kick a bag is always up there.

If Wingard is the shag, Schulzy is the marry. Will be my favourite player as long as his continues to pull the boots on, be it in Power or Magpies colours.

Fixed that for myself!

Let's all agree not to bump old Jay Schulz threads pls and thankyou :hearts:

Sorry, couldn't find a more recent thread of his apart from the Coleman one.

No wonder he didnt go to Hong Kong for Port's GF function to make up for pulling out of last years trip.

Don't see why not - Nason our second highest goalkicker, one of our best in two of our wins as a first year player, and Farmer becoming one of our best small defenders.

lol, this ended well!

Could've been excused for wearing some loose-fitting Billabong boardies, prefers to acquire a pair of plain black ones and sews the crest on. I assume.

Hopefully with added support in the forward line in terms of talls. Schulz won't be alone in the fwd line with 2 KPD's grabbing both of his arms while the ump isn't looking.
