Nah, wait and see how he goes after the disaster that was the Richmond game, the 'mental demons' were back at the sight of his old club. Make sure it doesn't carry into this year before even locking him into the side, let alone putting money on him for the Coleman. If all goes well he's definitely a chance to kick 50+ next year though, which would be a huge return on the loss of an average small defender.

Was disapointed that we traded him as I always felt that he was a forward and he always played his best games for us up forward.....don't know what they were thinking trying to turn him into a backman.....another Wallace brain wave....

sounds like Nick Salter

Mods - I think it is time for a poll. We need to know once and for all - who is the most negative Power supporter on BigFooty. At this stage it is between Gopower and Portbrilliance. Apologies if I've missed anyone...

There's far more negative than GP on these boards. At least he backs his assertions with constructed argument rather than the emotive hyperbole we get from some.

Portbrillance is bipolar not negative :p

b0ydman would be a monty though..

GP is pretty damn negative, but at least he has amazing man love for Nick Salter

:heart::heart::heart::heart::heart: Salter.

Schulz has been getting some man-love from me lately in the last half of this season too, I'm just not ready to put all our trust in him for next season on the strength of 2 good months of footy. I think and hope he'll have a good year in '11 though.

I'd rather see the encouraging signs of realized potential than not gopower.

This could be one of our awards, the cheers up award for the grumpiest poster :)

The most positive could be beer goggles award :)

Well done to Schulz on his equal 10th in the B&F. I certainly hope he keeps up the good work next season.

I don't know about b0ydman being a monty for the most negative poster. Frank Spencer Clone would have to be in with a chance although his posting is rather sporadic.

I had just kind of assumed they were on and the same. Didn't think there could be 2 of them. Twins perhaps?

onya Jay. there were plenty of doubters on the board at the start of the year, including myself, now most of the doubters are ON board and singing a different tune. keep it up next year. don't know about the coleman though :)

I read that article and it was very upsetting.

The way he threw his body into the contest without fear of getting hurt has come back to haunt him.

Unfortunately there is not much they can do once the brain is affected to that degree. Really feel for Jay and his family.

Unfortunately we are going to start seeing more of this. No doubt players in previous years were also affected but misdiagnosed or just put into another basket (Diesel Williams). Helmets have no meaningful reduction in concussions so the only real answer is to reduce contact and protect the head more which will upset the purists no doubt but it will only take one big class action to completely get the big wigs at AFL house scrambling.

I actually ran into [PLAYERCARD]Bowen Lockwood[/PLAYERCARD]'s brother last night his not going to well.
His back injury has turned into head to toe neuropathy.
Myself having neuropathy in my Feet for the past 6 yrs I couldn't imagine the pain he must be in.
Fair to say the club could of handled his injury and departure much better.
Despite this still a massive port supporter.

This makes me both sad and angry. Sad for Schulz, angry that the AFL still lets the likes Selwood and co. get away with ducking. You only need to see their non-crack down after saying they would a few years ago, has encouraged more serial duckers amongst newer players. Leaving aside the blight on the game, players still leading with the head / ducking to get frees and getting rewarded is only going to lead to more of these stories down the track.

40-50 is an awful lot. How common is it to have that many I wonder?

Horrible to hear.
It's not just the number. The worse case is getting another one whilst you haven't recovered. This is why boxers are stuffed. The general rule is there should be two weeks at least between any to be safe. There wasn't those rules around when Jay played. I'm sure if they had been he'd have missed a few more games, but also a good chance he'd be in a much better state now. The need for more than a week for concussions now is one of the few things the AFL has gotten right around protecting the head.

The number is striking though. Jay played 194 games so got concussed roughly once every 4-5 games. Who else would that have happened to?

Boxers are getting repeatedly punched in the head so I don't think its a reasonable comparison.
