Going a different route, I wonder what we're going to do for the Vuelta? I can see us going with both Bling and Yates, as well as handing Engelhardt a debut. Think something like:

Yates, Engelhardt and Sobrero the climbers
Durbridge and Craddock as tweeners/TT specialists for the TTT stage 1
O'Brien, Mezgec and Bling as the sprint train
 
Jayco has already signed a neo-pro for 2024 in Dane Anders Foldager - Jayco has extra money from their Alula sponsorship but it's a matter of getting riders into the team - Kooij would be the number one target as he can also ride Classics - Welsford may end up in the team if he is squeezed out by Jakobsen or Kooij - What they do need is to target B grade riders from Belgium and Holland for the classics and to get UCI points. Target for 2025 is Plapp and Groves.
 
Apparently, Lucas Hamilton has spent time in Australia after the passing away of his Dad - Will ride Tour De Suisse, however the TDF is doubtful.

Two stage wins and a probable top 5 finish is more than what they'd have expected. Excellent Giro.

Now go and get Milan.
 
Successful Giro overall for sure. Milan would be an ideal signing for the team, based on who is on the market currently
 
Jayco have trouble attracting bigger name riders or about to be bigger named riders - The two riders that interest me are DePlus and Affini - Deplus is a versatile rider who has previously won the Binck Bank Tour and can do a variety of classics - Affini did his neo-pro years at Jayco and won races. Placed right he can win races - They need to avoid Aussie talent who are not WT level - They selected Quick and Porter who are not WT level - There is nothing much coming up in the under 23's, although the juniors McKenzie, Chamberlain and Rogers will attract WT interest - You may find that if one of the big sprinters ends up at DSM, then Welsford may end up at Jayco.

Not riding the TDS but might be riding the Tour of Slovenia (although Startlist for Tour of Slovenia 2023 hasn't got him down yet). Nothing major on the transfer news yet, but it's still early.

Zana should be favourite really. Aleotti and Bais are his main rivals
 
Don't underestimate Wellens if he's recoved from his crash at Flanders. Textbook lead out by Mezgec for Groenwegen in stage one of Slovenie.
 
Preliminary squad for Le Tour. Think CJJ and Reinders are competing for that last spot.

Yates, Harper, Sobrero the climbers
Craddock, Durbridge, CJJ/Reinders the work horses
Mezgec, Groenewegen the sprinters

Think Zana will hold on for the GC tonight. Wouldn't be surprised to see Groenewegen chase the intermediate sprints as well.

Zana taking out the GC, good result for him and the team! Strong looking squad for the Tour, hopefully Yates will have the legs to be competitive
 
Fair to say it was a complete domination in Slovenia.

Won 3/5 stages
Had 3 second place finishes
1st and 5th in GC with Zana and Penã
2nd and 3rd in Mountains with Zana and Penã
3rd and 5th in points with Zana and Mezgec
Had the leaders jersey literally the entire race.

But how the hell is Penã ineligible for the young riders? He should make his GT debut at La Vuelta this year.

Also, TDS final ITT is on, hopefully Sobrero can put in a really strong time and get himself a top 5 finish.
 
Great to see Peña showing some good signs. Which other riders could we see at the vuelta?

Really depends on how Bling recovers after the World's. I think Engelhardt will definitely be there, and probably Dunbar.
 
The De Pena performance is the biggest shock so far of the 2023 season - He's been a pro for 18 months with 28 race days for jayco in total - There was nothing to suggest he could do this level of perfromance - Then you consider he rode on the front for the first three stages to support Groenewegen, then on the Queen stage he won, he crashed on the first descent,rushed back to the peleton, split the group on the final climb, then marked moves on the final vlimb, attacked over the top and then was 10 seconds behind Zana when he crashed and goes on to win the stage on a bike that was stuck on a low gear - Amazing!

Thought Zana could just about win GC BUT he was stronger than i envisioned - Without the crash on the descent he wins by a minute - Gotts say that Berhae is super impresisve - Crashed on his second race day at Valenciana in February and then was off until the Kanton race which is the pre-cursor to the Suisse Tour - He made the final in that one-day race,while he spent two stages dragging Scotson up the climbs.

The TDF squad is underwhelming, and unlike the Giro, I worry about the form of the riders - Mezgec and Groenewegen are fine but I worry about the rest.

It's what it needs to be with a split focus. The issue is that Yates hasn't raced since he abandoned Romandie. Harper doesn't have the form to be a leader but it's fine for a domestique, and Sobrero is in good form.

Durbridge, Craddock and CJJ are all very consistent. Craddock will probably lean on the climbing side, Durbridge a bit of both whilst CJJ goes more sprint train focus.

Depends if he's riding the British Champs. Doubt he does as it's usually a sprinters course.

Nah - I was looking at O'Brien and Scotson at Suisse to see if they could push into the TDF team - O'Brien was underwhelming, while I would have taken Scotson, but alas he is riding the Tour of Austria.

This year the British has 3500/4000 metres of elevation, not that it matters because Yates will not ride in this race.
