Explains his absence over the last few weeks. Fingers crossed it is not the case.

just when he'd gotten his body right and was starting to look good. man, that's a kick in the guts.

Terrible news for the young man if true,he was just starting to put it all together
Tough to be told at such a young age that your career is over and you cant do what you love.
FFC will hopefully have plenty of assist to get him through this

“The club will be working closely with Jayden, his family and his management to determine the best course of action for his future,” Bond said.

“With that in mind, the club advises that Jayden’s family have requested that the media respect his and their privacy during this period by not seeking them out for media interviews.

“In the meantime, training and playing football for Jayden have been put on hold while further opinions are sought.

“The club will provide further updates when pertinent information comes to hand."

Can everyone please keep all comments respectful on this serious issue.

Well it's still early, but the gravity of a heart complication usually results in retirement. Plus the wording of the presser seemed solemn.

If so, good news that he's gotten it sussed already. Fabrice Muamba got plenty of attention when he collapsed playing soccer last year, and he was lucky enough to live. Considering the stress your body goes through when you're a professional athlete, and especially a game like Aussie rules, I'm actually surprised these problems aren't more occurrent.

Anyway, Pitty, there's things more important in life than football. But getting a dozen AFL games is something plenty of talented and deserving blokes never notched up. Hope he goes well with his health and has everything cleared up and sorted.

All the best pitt. The best of luck in getting it sorted out and hope you have a chance to come back after getting your health in check. Nothing more important than your health.

Terrible news for the young bloke. Here's hoping it's not as bad as thought, although it is impossible to be too careful with your health in general and your heart in particular.

Topic stays as a rumour until confirmed...

If this is the case then change the thread title!!!
There have been many elite athletes who have continued successfully with their careers after the diagnosis of cardiac irregularity;certainly does not mean end of career.

Ignore...well done Seppo.
Cheers.

I thought this was going to be a troll thread about him not putting effort in in games... it's actually a lot worse though

Sucks to hear, especially as he was starting to get touches in the wafl...

But most do hear the word heart and immediately think the worst. I mean Lenny Hayes had heart surgery over the break and is still playing so hopefully it's not as bad as it seems, or at least not something life threatening rather than just career threatening.

Good luck Pitty!

Really sad news for Pitty :( Hopefully its not too serious and he can have a full and happy life.

Be nice to see Freo help him out medically, life development and provide some financial help to see him move on.

Very sad if the worse case scenario is confirmed and he has to retire. On the positive side, at least it was found out before a collapse on the field as has happened a few times in soccer over the years.

But that aside, let's hope he can have corrective surgery (or whatever) and get back to playing footy.

Shocking news. Sometimes footy isn't fair. All the best Pitty. Plenty on here were impatient with an underweight kid from Geelong, but he's still only 20 and just starting to develop some strength and bulk. Saw his wafl game vs Perth a couple of weeks ago and he showed plenty of promise that day.

Hope he can come back, and I'm guessing he'll be considering additional opinions and options. Health comes first of course. This wIll be a downer for all at the club, especially the young guys.

I don't think the website story is overly gloomy - the way it reads it could be some minor problem that stops him having the elite fitness required to play AFL rather than something that could make him drop on the field. And potentially fixable.
