Injury Jayden Pitt's Career On Hold - Heart Condition

Obviously bad news, but I'd try to look at it the other way ... as a positive that he has found out and can work out what needs to be done to live with the condition. Even if he can't play, it's just a game.

My uncle had a massive cardiac arrest while driving, but was extremely lucky to survive due to actions of people near the scene. I'm glad it happened (with the outcome), because it was going to happen sooner or later. If it happened 10 minutes earlier while he was surfing, he would have drowned/died for sure. He was otherwise very healthy for his age, surfed every day, physical activity while working ... no real signs that he had a heart condition. At least he was able to find out and now live his life accordingly.

Devastating news for the kid, he's been under so much pressure since the second his name was read out by Lloydy, and now this - just as he was starting to hit his straps. Feel terrible for the kid, i'm sure he'll get the support he deserves though.

Best of luck Mr Pitt! I sincerely hope that you are able to sort this out, get better and come back to us to show your full potential!

If I remember correctly it was found that Glen Jackovich had some sort of heart condition. Hopefully he can get himself right with the right treatment and get back.

This condition was the same one I had, aside from a post op bleed there has been no side effects.

If this is what Jayden has then I'm very confident of a full recovery

Absolutely shattered by this news. I'm really feeling it for the young bloke.
Hopefully it will all turn out okay for him.

Shocking news for such a young player. Hope it ends well (ala Nathan Eagleton). My sympathies to him & the club and to the Freo supporters..... well at least until next w/e.

Congrats for yesterday, great win against all public expectations. Doing my dream team you realise just how strong the bulldogs midfield and running players are. A fit midfield of Griffen, Cooney and Boyd mixed with the really good young kids coming through should hold no fears against any opponent.

Fremantle midfielder Jayden Pitt's career could be over at the age of 20 after just 10 AFL games, with further medical tests confirming a heart irregularity that would represent a significant and potentially life-threatening risk if he tried to continue playing.
Thewest.com.au understands that a second specialist's opinion has delivered bad news for Pitt, advising him to avoid the extreme physical stresses of AFL football.
The Dockers would not confirm the bad news, saying only that they would continue to provide support for Pitt as he tried to re-establish his career.

But the article doesn't actually say that.

Only the headline does.

Shocking journalism and editing.

This is terrible news IF he has to leave the game. Wish him all the best

I'm thinking if two cardiologist say to you not to play AFL level as it's likely to cause issues with your heart you would retire.

All the best Jayden, the Darling v Pitt debate will never be resolved but all the best in your future endeavours.

Pitt isn't a thug who gets suspended from school and loves punch ups.

I do feel sorry for him, but it was out of his control. I don't think he was ever going to be a 100 game player or anything, but that's irrelevant: he played AFL. He should always be proud of himself for notching that.

All the best with everything post-footy, dude. And thanks for anything and everything you did for the betterment of the Fremantle Football Club.

Ummm....y'all might actually want to read the article and then wait for an actual announcement from the club before writing his obituary.

Not saying that it isn't the case, but nothing is official yet.

Yeh it doesn't exactly explicitly state that he's going to retire. At this stage it's all inference.

I'll grant that it doesn't look good though, would be a cruel end to a young career.

Really sad for him if he does throw it in, which looks likely given the seriousness of the matter. He was just starting put in some strong WAFL performances as well. All the best for Jayden, whatever he decides to do.
