Will be a player. Especially with this new sub rule. Provides a valuable ruck option. Has not played enough games though so lacks confidence. Watched him closely the whole warm up. Kicked a beautiful left foot goal straight through from two steps on the 50. He just feels like the weight of the world is on his shoulders at the moment. I'd be telling him he has at least 4 games to get some confidence up.

Yeah give him several straight games. He'll be taking speccies and banging goals from 50m very soon :thumbsu:

Seriously mods, give it a ****ing rest!!!! every time i mention a dislike to a player or think that a player wont make it at afl level, in this particular case being post, who i genuinly think he is a shocker of a footy player and should be delisted, you delete my posts, its a forum you morons anyone can post there thoughts, if you disagree then disagree you don't have to delete a post for no reason other than you disagree. morons

Are we on the Carlton Board????? Big footy is becoming a Joke people should be able to post what they want.

.......................................

My opinion on post is that he is a keeper. Needs to be told that he has 6 games without worrying about getting dropped. He is definitely a confidence player. Not sure how to get him playing to his potential.

I thought he was terrible. But I would keep playing him because I think you have to give these kind of players about 3 games in a row to show something.

Has a lot of development left and has a very long way to go to become a good player but Im not writing him off.

Would have been hard to come in on Saturday night, big game, big crowd, finals type intensity & atmosphere (as per Dimma) and all year he has had to cope with playing at Coburg who are really stinking it up at the moment. (I mean, losing to Frankston FFS!)

Comes into a forward line that is actually functioning very well of late with Jack, Vicks the mids and small forward getting involved... he may have been instructed to not get in the way too much!

Anyone who comes in should almost always get more than one go at it to adjust from the crap Coburg environment to the Tigers way of going about it.

I have some faith in Post...
Dunno about Miller coming straight back in for Post... Millers first game for the Tigers was not as good as Post's on Saturday IMO.

What he said! I think the kid is a pretty exciting option, can play forward, back pinch hit in the ruck. For your first chance all season after weeks in the Burgers Sat night would have been massive and he must have been as nervous as hell. Give him a few in a row and let him show what he can do.

Yeah I'm another with "what he said". Beautifully put Roachy8.
Bolded line is most important to remember for mine. It still took Miller (a veteran of 133 AFL career games with Melbourne) a few games to gain confidence as it will Posty who had only played 14 games prior to Saturday night.

I agree that Post should be given some more games to develop at senior level.

He's been ordinary for Coburg, and only got a game due to Miller getting sick and there being no other options.

He was poor on Saturday.

Despite the Post love-in that if the Richmond board, he'll be lucky to get another game next week (assuming Miller is back) and if he doesn't step up signfiicantly, he wont be playing after the bye, and by the time he gets another chance, Griff will (hopefully) be fit and move ahead of him.

For those saying he's young and will improve...I assume you all say the same about Graham, who is also young for his position.

He was not poor. If he kicked that goal he would have been considered as playing a decent game

Don't understand the love for Post on this board.

If Astbury regains his 2010 form and Griffiths gets himself 100% then Post is a depth player at best.

He's been so-so for Coburg, was ordinary for us on the weekend, and if we want to put on our rose tinted glasses and assume that every player will live up to the expectations we place on them then he still won't have a concrete spot in the team because he'll be an inferior forward compared to Jack/Griff/Ty, and an inferior defender compared to Rance/Astbury/Grimes. So, where would he fit in this dream scenario? Number 1 ruck over Browne or Graham, I don't think so.

If we can get any value from GWS I think we should take it, if we can't then I think Post will, at best, be a handy stop gap solution when one of our "best 22" talls go down, similar to Miller now.

I thought his big on the full under no real pressure in the last was more glaring than his missed goal.

Carnt pull the trigger on him yet still too young and wat the hell has griff done so far that makes ya so sure hes gonna make it . Post at least has made the best players a cup of times in his career at afl level griffiths has not, post has taken a number of strong grabs griffiths none, post has been handy in ruck griff has not . for the record i think both will make it way too early too make a final judgement , gotta b realistic some players dont come good till there 22 23 24 history has shown specially keys.

Would have to do with lack of games and big crowd. Took some good marks. He'll obviously improve by the game. In a month, we'll have post, vickery and reiwoldt causing all sorts of problems with their marking ability

You can't hang kids after one game.
This has been a major problem in the past.
There has been a lack of depth for a long time, so if he becomes a fringe player at worst, it would be a bonus.

I'm really sorry, i have not seen him play a good game yet in AFL.

He did take some nice grabs, but terrible disposals and can not kick straight.

Need Miller back asap.

Short-term thinking at it's finest.

Post should get a run of games similar to Rance to build his confidence and hopefully establish himself in the best 22. You don't drop a kid after 1 game.

Sorry, strongly disagree.

Miller adds some much needed experience and hardnest up front.

We are in the midst of competing for a top 8 spot. Not the time to blood players who need more time.

Sorry, but Post has made too many mistakes in all the games i've seen him play. Maybe later, not now.

Because he was really needed on the weekend against Essendon? Won't be needed against Port.

We're a rebuilding and developing team who need to get games into kids and see what ones can take us forward and what ones can't. Why do you think Dimma has stated he wants to get a certain number of games into these kids (forgot the number).

Results now are still not and should not the number 1 priority. Our long-term future is. Otherwise we would go trading away first-round draft picks for mature aged players from other clubs.

No worries Barnzy, let's agree to disagree.

I'm happy if Post plays kicks a bag, don't care where the goals come from, so long as the song comes on at the end of the game.

I actually thought he was only 2 straight kicks away from a reasonably good game, his marking was more solid than earlier senior appearances, his ruckwork changes the mix around and he competed well in the centre. Only his kicking twice let him down when it would have otherwised finished off good work. im hoping he can improve on that and he may well be a constant in the side

Think he really needs to be settled in one position first. not wing back swing forward now go to the ruck. just play forward, or play back for an extended period.

coburg thorw him everywhere, so I do think he's developing as well as he could be. I dont mind him pinch hitting in the ruck as he's pretty decent at that.

Give him a string of games and hopefully we can see something. (now the bye comes at a BAD time)
