I've been perusing a large amount of Struggle Street recently, and I believe that I have somehow been overly influenced by the diction contained within the show.

Great result with new contract, has really stepped up this year.

Love this.
Nearly my favourite Cat now.
Seems Menzel may be on the way out, same with Murdoch.
Bews is the perfect age and expect him to feature in top 5, at worst top 10 Carji, and Most Improved
And if we are not in the GF, he will win the GF sprint this year

11.49secs for 100m is not bad, me in my hay day back in High School would've come very close to pipping them... James Walker from Fremantle used to race in the year above me in the BPSA (now BAS), and he would set records in the 100m in that competition, he went on to win back-to-back AFL sprint's. I also played footy against him, he was one of the best in the school league then. I'm not sure what his time's were in the 2003 and 2004 sprints?

I was the year below James Walker, and I was undefeated at that level, but I wasn't as quick him, but I wasn't far off him. I had a terrible tank though, and probably a bit too short to be a footballer around 175cm. Actually, I was a pretty average footballer.

Very happy for Bewsy to sign up... Has improved dramatically this year, and is looking like a very good player now. I trust him completely in the one-on-one contests.

11.49 in high school???
Depening on the year that would qualify for the olympics....

Not likely, I was talking late High School, I was def low 12 seconds, but would've cracked 12 seconds quite a few times, maybe around 11.8-11.9 would've been my fastest, I might make some enquiries with the BAS to see if they have any records of my races.

Walker was even faster... I'd love to find out his Grand Final sprint times in 2003 and 2004, but can't seem to find it.

16yo's have a world records around 10.15secs. So its not really world record standards, but quick enough for us white guys.

Its funny with sprinting, it doesn't necessarily mean you're the quickest on the footy park either... I mean I had the explosive pace, but my top speed was not over the top... So in footy I was good at getting out of traffic and getting away from my opponent, but at full tilt with ball in hand, I could be caught, it was like my running style was affected because the ball was in hand.

I wonder who is quickest at the club - especially out of Bews, Danger, Murdoch, Cocky and even Stanley?

Just taking a wild stab,
Danger quickest 5 metres.
Cocky quickest 20
Bews quickest 40
Murdoch quickest 100
Menegola quickest 2k
Blitz 2k +

Btw... I read on an earlier thread without confirming at BPSA, that James Walker's PB for the 100m was 10.9seconds. There was a gap between me and him by one year, and his times were way quicker than me. Maybe I was quicker than 11.8-11.9, I'm very curious now, I'm going to see if I can find out... So I think a 11.49seconds at the Grand Final Sprint, might actually be a slow one.

Dangerfield did it in 11.38s in 2012...

Murdoch did it 11.6 seconds when he won...

From briefly watching him and Murdoch, Danger has much better running action, technically speaking from a sprinter's point of view.

So it appears Danger is quicker than Murdoch.

Interestingly when Stanley won it in 2009, Trent McKenzie from GCFC was right on his hammer, I didn't know he was that quick either... no time posted.

Yeah, who really knows, but he did absolutely blitz the GF Sprint.
Yeah could be quicker.
Sad thing about Stanley is that on his day I'd have him as the nicest kick of all those players and one of the nicest marks.
Recipe for a devastating player.

James Walker for Fremantle used to beat Wojcinski in the Sprints... Just for a comparison back then.

James Walker ran 11.4 seconds back in Under 14s in 1993 (which is right on Dangerfield's time in the 2012 GF Sprint) !

Some guy, M Orchard was running 10.5 seconds in U16s in BPSA back in 1992. And the Open Age BPSA record is 10.30 seconds. Maybe they were doing steriods then? lol

Maybe these modern day footballers are not that quick after all; however, they are running on grass, which is slower than the synthetic tracks.

I was winning those races back then in BPSA, so those records may suggest I was probably running quicker than 11.8s. Just wish I could remember.
