When will Giesh learn to keep his trap shut.
His latest offering on Ten's news,
"We're going to be a lot tougher on holding frees this year. It's simple, you hold, it's a free."
What a joke. It's just like last year's offering when they said they were going to clamp down on intentional out of bounds.
Giesch shouldn't give instructions like this because we all know what's going to happen, the umpires will pay every single pussy momentary hold, resulting in soft free kicks and unhappy players and fans.
Simple philosophy:
1. Pay the obvious free kicks.
2. Let the game flow if the free kick doesn't need to be paid. (Advantage without whistle.)
3. Don't pay soft free kicks.
Stop concentrating on minor issues like umpire abuse, (self caused a lot of the time), ruck infringements, etc. Get on with the game.
