I have no doubt that Jeff will get the job done, it's how he will do it that you have to be wary. He won't just cut the bad parts around the good parts, he'll nuke the entire thing. There will be collateral damage to a lot of loyal people at the club.

Some times you need high profile people in high profile positions. For the sake of sponsors and financial stability we my need Jeff, regardless of how much of a toss he is!

Yep, this is what I'm worried about.

Then again, you could raise the argument that this club has needed a good nuking for the last ~50 years.

That's always been Jeffs problem. Even if he gets results he tends to elect the sledgehammer when the tweezers are preferable.

Melbourne aint a tweezers job.
connolly would not have had a two year extension either.

Connolly took a bullet for us, and isn't involved in the running of the club anymore. He's in charge of promoting the club these days.
However, I do agree that fixing Melbourne could well be a sledgehammer job.

Louis, if Ron Walker and Alan Stockdale were to keep Jeff in check, would you think that it just may work?

There is no way it will work. I'd be done too, along with a crap load of Dee's.

Political views influencing your club allegiances?

Strange, is all I can say. Can't fathom something as trivial as politics ever being more important to me than MFC.

Beyond politics. It's an ideological difference, a moral one, and I am a very moral person.

As a premier? Evil silly screwed up a lot of people's lives. Robbed the state blind for his friends and if he tries it on my club I will kick his arse.

You've made many superb points on this thread mate, and that's just another of them.

This is about what we stand for. It's about the very soul of our club. A narcissistic, ego-driven, amoral, unAustralian, anti-community, anti-social twerp like Kennett cannot be allowed to stand at the helm.

I understand everyone has an opinion and a right to voice it. But something I have always despised are the "If the club does that I won't renew my membership" or the "I'll never go to another game' threats.

Next to my family, the club is the most important thing in my life. People and players come and go. The club will always be there. We would negligent to not investigate what Kennett has in mind.

Exactly right mate. It's not just that I despise everything Kennett represents from a political standpoint, it's also that he lacks personal ethics, lacks conscience, and is not a man of conviction otherwise.

This is about character even more than it is about anything else, and he is a toxic human being.

Why is he toxic? Why does he lack ethics or a conscience? Why is not a man of conviction?

Mate, I understand your hatred of Kennett. You make some valid points. But I'm not above selling my soul to the devil to get to where I want us to go. I want it that bad. If Kennett can help us, I'd be prepared to look at it.

Why is he toxic? Why does he lack ethics or a conscience? Why is not a man of conviction?

Because when analysing Jeff Kennett and his actions ever since I became aware of him when he was running for Premier of Victoria in 1996, and over the years since he was Premier, the evidence inexorably leads to that conclusion.

Translation: "because that's my opinion of him".

I'd just like to understand what caused that opinion? Why do some people have such a strong hatred for him?

Translation: "because that's my opinion of him".

No, because of the overwhelming body of factual evidence about his actions over time.

This is clearly not just an opinion about his personality or anything of the kind.

This is a straightforward evidence-based conclusion.

If you're still wondering why, as I say, all you need to do is look through his actions and statements as Premier and his various public statements since he left office, including those since he became President of Hawthorn.

Okay, I'll make it easier. I'm not trying to bate you btw, I just have next to no interest in politics so only know what I've heard about Kennett from others, which has mostly always been positive.

So, let me make it simpler. How about one example Wonae? Pick your favorite, or least favorite as it may be...
