Jeff Kennett?

Heard on the news that a bunch of Liberals want Jeff back as head of Liberal Party in Victoria. I would welcome him back any day. Under the current Denis Napthine, the Liberals are going nowhere. They need a leader. They need a leader in Jeff Kennett. Otherwise, we Vics will be stuck with Bracks for many years to come.

Even liberals have to admit that Jeff got all the libs with experience in government to resign at the last election.

His paln was to get into power and have a new set of ministers who were younger and fresher and (more important) completely subserviant to him.

Unfortunately he lost and the libs are in opposition with no leaders and despite only narrowly losing the election, they are likely to be routed next time out.


Jeff is so 'employable' by his big business pals that he had to take a job at an ailing radio station (only after 'investing' in it) Have you ever heard of that before ? I don't knoiw how felicity can look her girfreinds in the face at coffee morning.

Jeff was a Phenomenon but it is over. Get used to it.

Part of Jeffs legacy here in Victoria is that shop trading hours are so unneccesarily long(I mean how often do you have to go shopping?)that many small business people now routinely work 80-100 hours per week.

BTW if Jeff does ever come there make sure you tie everything down. He tends to wander off with other peoples property and then claim that it is his. The people of Victoria had a painting of Henry Bolte that Jeff took a shining to and so he just removed it after his term of office was up.

I know about 10 small business owners all in all and they all want a chance to open for more hours because they feel that they could do much better if they did. They have shops in good positions and want to beable to exploit that on sundays when people around their neighbourhood dont want to go to far to get stuff!

Jeff is the master at chewing his enemies up and spitting them back out! I dont rate bacon as the same quality politician that Kennet was! For 1, Kennet fought in a different (much bigger and much tougher) weight division that Jim does and ever will. Tasmania is in the same position that Victoria was when Jeff Kennet came to power. Jeff was able to turn things around within 1 term. Bacon still hasnt turned things around (our unemployment rate is still well above the national average and there is still no prospects here in Tassie for young people)

Labor are no better with their so called social policies that tear away at the heart of the traditional family unit, along with their pandering to these unions who are militant and pathetic.

Labor won the election fair and square in Tassie, so I am sure the majority of Tasmanians got what they asked for. These Liberal supporters should deal with it, after all, the Libs are not born to rule as they like to think they are.

First of all Kennett is a bully, nothing more.


He is not a 'quality politician' he is to much of an oppurtunist to be that. If you believe in slash and burn politics then Jeff is your man, if you want something with a bit more substance and someone who looks a bit further than next week in his forward planning then he is not your man.

Most of the damage that Jeff did in this state is only now being realised-seal rocks, a Grand Prix that costs us millions and brings in no revenue, gambling problems, an unworkable industrial relations system, power brownouts, a public transport ticketing system that doesnt work, packs of bullies masquerading as ticket inspectors and many more problems I am happy to discuss.

And if you think that we dont have a problem with youth unemployment in this state then think again.

I dont necessarily like the people involved in the Tasmanian liberal party but I like the liberal ethos. What I meant to say is...if the liberals had decent candidates then they would have got alot more support.

Power brownouts dont happen in SA. Wouldnt happen in Victoria either if we didnt operate the power companies for profit. The companies have no interest in generating any more power than they can sell at a profit.


Oh come on. Not even the most blinkered Kennett supporter could say that the ticketing system is working effectively. The machines on board dont take notes, or give change for anything more than five dollars.

Kennett introduced the transit police, a division of Victoria Police and then introduced ticket nazis in '98.



And dont you want to talk about IR? About how the Commonwealth had to take responsibility for it in Kennetts first term because the system had basically fallen apart?
