He must be the current king of the 20's, I won't say he is the king of the decade until now (15-25) With the efforts of Martin it is highly debatable. But halfway through this decade of the 20's he must be the best player. His time at Geelong has been unbelievable.

He has averaged 3 goals a game kicking 39 (covid year form 15 games) 65,53,64 and sits on 75 this year off 20 games.

He has won by the end of this year a premiership (hopefully two, 2 coleman medals, b and f in a premiership year, another best and fairest, 3 all australians and 3 goal kicking titles at Geelong.

The best forward in our game since Franklin. Hats off Jezza!

He's the perfect player for Geelong they seem to recruit players that show certain KPI's that are just not on other clubs radars or there is something special about the tap water , I mean he is a forward that came to a side with Hawkins as top dog slotted effortlessly next to him they played harmoniously as a duo and shared the load no ego involved and has become even better as a person and player post retirement hats off to him and the club they are just a top shelf well run organisation that don't stay down for very long ... Envious tiger supporter who has always respected your club

Jeremy Cameron not on anyones radar? He was arguarbly better at GWS. He just happened to grow up in Dartmoor and wanted a lifestyle to match as he got older. Geelong are the only team that can really provide that life to players.

Through most of the 2010s we had literally no serious backup for Hawkins as a KPF - there were stopgaps etc but often poor Hawk was left to fight it out as key forward alone.

Cameron was a critical need for us at the time.

He probably meant as a recruitment target. I think all clubs would obviously love to have him but he was obviously never ‘unhappy’ at GWS he was doing fine there and their club was doing fine but he was a perfect fit for us as we were a side who could really do with a second key forward and yes we could offer a ‘come home’ factor and lifestyle so he was a player that we specifically could target that others probably ignored a little

Starting to build up a similar record to Buddy, in being dominant right up until Grand Final day.

That's a couple of really anonymous ones now, kicked the first in 2019 then disappeared, 2025 was just quiet all round, albeit second half injured.

Did he have a big one in 2022?

Yeah he like many other key forwards has not dominated grand finals. 22 he was ok without being outstanding.

been pretty good weather generally too, in recent years, I reckon the pressure is so high in midfield that good delivery just doesn't come in to tall forwards
Yeah it seems that way, especially our delivery last grand final it would of suited a Tomahawk type more it was bombs. Also hats off to Andrews as well his positioning was amazing.

I wish Jezza hadn’t dogshot Harris Andrews in one of the worst incidents I’ve seen on a footy field, because I actually like everything else about him.

I think this year has been overrated. He kicked fewer goals against top 8 teams than Logan Morris. He absolutely fed on the bottom 8 teams, 19 of his 83 goals were against top 8 sides.

Apart from finals I think we only played Brisbane twice out of the top 8 teams.

Apart from finals I think we only played Brisbane twice out of the top 8 teams.

Including finals he played 11 games against top 8 sides for 24 goals (2.2 per game). 64 in 14 against sides outside the 8 (4.6 per game).

He's also had 2 really bad prelim finals.

2016 - 5 disposals, 0 goals
2021 - 4 disposals, 2 goals

Exactly what I wrote, still stand by it. Another huge year by the King.

Averages a player rating of 8.1 from 9 Preliminary and Grand Finals. That is not very king like. More like peasant level.

He has 19 goals plus assists from those 9 biggest games he has played. Has kicked 14 goals in those 9 biggest games. Has never fired in a PF or GF in 9 times of asking. Put a line through him in any discussions about being the king. Zero coaches votes in those games?

By comparison Dusty scored 11 goals* just in the 3 Grand Finals he played, and had 5 goal assists. So more or less almost as much goal impact in 3 Grand Finals and your king has had in 9 Preliminary & Grand Finals. And Dusty was a mid.

If you want to be the king you need to be the best against the best. Not the best against the worst.

*adjusted for 2020 shortened games.

Yes, he hasn't performed in the Grand Finals as well as he would of liked but he has been an exceptional footballer in the 2020's decade so far. It is hard to say who has been better, I would give in the title to Lachie Neale maybe.

Bontompelli easily for mine.

Or Preliminary Finals.

I like you Lingy, but you are on the wrong track here. Neale, Bont, Petracca, Heeney, Dawson, Butters, Brayshaw, Serong, Miller, I would think all out-performed your king over the last 5 years.

Cameron is a very high end runner/receiver/converter until the real heat goes on in the biggest games then he is just an average to good version of that at best.

Bontompelli easily for mine.
Neale- 2020- Brownlow
2022- Brownlow runner up
2023- Brownlow and Grand Final
2024- Premiership captain and Gary Ayers medal
2025- Premiership captain

3 best and fairests 3 All Australians

Team finished 1st,1st,2nd,Prelim,Semi Final, Prelim

I don't rate Brownlows but he has a good record as a midfielder.

I don't agree with you on that but he hasn't performed in the finals yet. Has had some huge games against top opponents though. Which Miller are you talking about Touk?

Yes Touk.

Cameron has performed in some finals but never fired properly once in the last 2 weeks of finals. From 9 attempts that is pretty damning if you have pretensions to the throne. All his PF and GF's have ranged from poor to about average. He averages barely over 4 contested possessions in these games, and his accuracy also gets very shaky 14.13.
