Cannot be stated enough of just how much brainpower we lack with howe not being back in defense.

This Moore clearly cannot lead a dog let alone our defence by himself. He needs howe to be there next to him, so that there is someone there to cover up for his mistakes.

The Moore scrutiny is misplaced.

By eye test and admission by the coach, the Pies defensive structure, which is elite when all healthy, is clearly dependent on personnel experience and roles rather sheer talent.... or in other words, structure and system.

Hence plugging in a new player or unfamiliar player yields poor outcomes.

From watching it alone, the Pies defensive structures require multiple managers and decision makers or leaders for it to work well. Moore, Howe and Maynard are the 3 key managers back there with IQ, Perryman, Jaicos, Frampton, Houston as executioners of the decided play. Murphy was an upcoming leader before he retired, he worked very well with Moore who also helped Murphy play his best.

When one of the leaders is out, the thinking heads aren't thinking well becaude management of the defense becomes harder and prone to mistakes.

Moore clearly leaving his area or stuck in no man's land when he doesn't have another leader to help manage the defense.

It's black and white with Moore's performance, no pun intended, when the back structure is missing a key player.

I said it was reckless! Eff you Newcombe
I reckon they need to sharpen up on culpability rules with these clashes.

The player running against the flight of the ball should be deemed responsible for the clash, unless he clearly gets to the ball first. The onus should be on him to back out of the contest if it’s going to be a 50/50. The player running with the flight of the ball is inevitably the player who is unprotected.
