Re: Rookie - Jeremy Laidler

I like this pick.

Calder people will tell you he's Darren Milburn (another ex-Cannon) all over again at 18 years old. Tweener size (filled in some key positions at TAC level, but will be a tall flanker option if he makes it at AFL), but extremely versatile, hard at the man and the pill, reads the play well, and has clean skills.

Did some nice defensive jobs on Lachie Hansen and Jarryd Allen at last years championships as a bottom-aged player, and turned the tables this season to become a legit marking option up forward for the Cannons and Vic Metro.

From Inside Football:

"Jeremy is probably our most improved player this year. He's a terrific left foot kick, can play anywhere from full back to full forward to the wing or ruck rover. He has got great hands and a great attitude to his footy. Whoever gets Jeremy will be getting a pretty fair player." - Calder Cannons Coach David Flood

Re: Rookie - Jeremy Laidler

2009 will be a massive year for Laidler. He needs to stand up and be counted for after an impressive 2008. His run and carry was good and he did some good negating roles as well.

I would like to see him add some dash and flair into the team, while continuing with that defensive side of his game.

Re: Rookie - Jeremy Laidler

In a similar situation to Moles. One or both will be gone in 12 months time. Needs to show improvement to justify staying on the list.

He has shown a bit, but not enough IMHO. He seems to be good at everything but not a master at it.

Re: Rookie - Jeremy Laidler

Jeremy has been fantastic for us so far this year. Expect to see him play. I love the way he runs and carries the ball.

Re: Rookie - Jeremy Laidler

Jeremy is flying. He was brilliant again this week in the VFL playing off half back. He pushed forward and was giving an option at every chance he got :thumbsu::thumbsu:
