Laidler up for the "old mob"
“It’s been tough to watch, particularly as I’ve always been one to try and get out there as quick as I can,” he said. “We have had a rough patch, but we’ve tried to arrest our deficiencies, and the boys have stuck together and come back in these past couple of weeks with a lot of confidence.

“We’re all sticking together. All we can ask is that the fans stick together and stick with us. I know we’ve missed out on a couple of wins this past fortnight, but we’ve regained a bit of form and hopefully we can take that into the next four weeks and onwards.”

Laidler for captain.

Be nice to have an uncompromising, professional tough nut like Laids as captain...would be a meteoric rise from the undersized Canons KPP who missed out on the ND.

Strange comparison. Laids isn't quick, but he's got more smarts and skill than Duigan.

All a little strange to me.
If Laidler isn't fit for whatever reason, why not just say that.

I can't buy into the official line just yet. Laidler made sense of the back-line and now he's a has-been?

Might have something to do with Malthouse's "players need to reinvent themselves". Perhaps he wants Laids as a swingman like T-Bird was towards the end. Not sure if I agree with it though.

Played his junior football as a forward and is a beter set shot for goal than any of our current forwards. We miss his smarts. He is a natural footballer and I consider one of the best decision makers at the club. This more than compensates for his lack of leg speed. Would rather Laidler in the side taking the kick outs than Walker who should be on the receiving end with his express pace. Offers more than White. We need a back half that does not turn the ball over. Laidler belongs there.

Want him in the side too Dirk. .. but he has to be playing well for that to happen. .. Here's hoping. ..

Jeremy Laidler out of contract but wants to stay at Carlton

OUT-of-contract Carlton utility Jeremy Laidler is focusing all his efforts on winning over coach Michael Malthouse after being re-made as a forward.

It continues to surprise that Laidler is not in the senior side but hopefully this article rings true.

We know his best is very good, hopefully we see him back playing at that level sooner rather than later.

It is inconceivable to me that we have as good a player as he is languishing in the reserves, unless there's more to this than the club is letting on.

I think we wont risk him against Sydney or Collingwood, but might see him up forward a little later in the year - particularly if Andy Mac locks down that 3rd defender position.

Laidler was one of my favourites in 2011, and it's disappointing to see him on the outer by so many supporters.

Poor guy, I hope none of us think any bad of him, as I don't think we can blame him. For whatever reason, as it sometimes happens with injuries plus a new coach and staff etc, it just hasn't clicked for Laids in recent times.

Sucks :( He was so handy when he was up and about. Good luck Jeremy.

There were plenty of us thinking that Laidler could have been a smokey for captaincy down the track... ironically the logic was: in the Malthouse tradition of Maxwell !!

Laidler joins the Swans
“I flew up there yesterday (Thursday) and had a bit of a medical and a meeting, and all went pretty well,” Laidler said.

“They said they knew that I could play at the top level, it’s just I’ve got to get back to my good form.”

“He’s shown the ability to play both forward and back and being only 24 we think that his best football is ahead of him.

Just once, I would love to hear an official say that their new player's best football was behind them. ;):D
