He seems pretty good but, but demands the 4th best defender after Kennedy, Darling and LeCras which is a bonus for a big man with a good leap
Freo had a weak defence in today, but he practically takes the 2nd defender. LeCras is a near permanent midfielder and Darling runs large minutes through there too.

1. Has had to compete with a plethora of talls, some of them AA quality - still developing like Lycett and co.
2. I rate Lycett (along with many other fans) and also think Cox should be put out to pasture to ensure Lycett signs on - he's out of contract.

It now appears, going forward, that Naitanui, McGovern and Lycett offer plenty of height for us in the future.
I vaguely remember him playing really well in a NAB cup game about 3 years ago that's all. Been a long time in between. And at some stage Nic Nat has missed time and Josh Kennedy has missed at least a week here and there hasn't he?

I'd say the future is just about now. Kennedy will be better with a legit second tall forward and it's time to mix something up with the second ruck. And the main thing is your midfield needs some Jack Darling time. Doesn't matter who's forward if the ball never comes, so may as well play Darling in the midfield as a possible solution. If it doesn't work he can always go back forward.

I can't speak for all West Coast fans, of course, but I think Darling having spurts in midfield suits him just fine - the problem is it will take time and at the moment he's horribly out of form. McGovern stepping up is a pleasant problem to have, as it allows Simmo to continue throwing Darling in there. He's got the tank and the body, he just needs to develop the ball sense.

I would be more pissed if we lost Lycett compared to Ebert tbh. I am hoping Cox does the honourable thing and call time to ensure Lycett stays on. He was okay today, but we could've gained more for our future imo if we played Lycett with Naitanui.

Anyway, it's season over you would think. We gave the derby a good shake at least. Time to give Lycett games until the end.

When things are not going his way he manages to spill packs as well, Which is pretty rare for someone in their first few games

Seems to play better at AFL level than at WAFL level... some players are like that.

Gov has been working away in the WAFL, he was a project player, still has a lot of development it looks like. Every time I saw his for Claremont he used to grab a few big marks and show glimpses of something more, was moving from forward to defence as well (actually I think played more in defence for EP this year than attack, someone correct me if I'm wrong, I don't like watching plastic WAFL clubs ;)). Obviously had some raw talent, but hard to crack a game in our forward line while he's been here, or our defence to be honest.

Was really disappointed when he turned up at the start of pre-season overweight and was send back to EP to train, thought he might never get a shot, but Simpson has given him a chance and he's seriously grabbed it. Outperforming Darling and Kennedy by streets since he's been up there. Crashes packs, looks like a real natural forward.

Averaging 3.8 contested marks a game, 5 games into his career... second best in the AFL this year is Taylor Walker at 2.2 a game. And kicked 11 goals 6 as well.

No. Just hasn't played much as a KPF at WAFL level, was a backup ruck or third tall in 2012 for the most part, missed 2013 after dominating the first two games and played well as a KPD this year.

Good player. Two questions.

1. Where has he been?
2. Would Lycett be another to get similar praise if he could string a few games together instead of old man Cox.
Been playing Wafl, has been very good there Jeremy McGovern and Simon Tunbridge are our two of our better talents not getting
a lot of games until this season.

As for Lycett I think he will be a star, he is incredibly quick for a big man, takes a strong mark,
and is just starting to learn how to use his big frame.
We desperately need to keep him as he is out of contract.
Apparantly 12 clubs are interested in him headed by Port Adelaide and Melbourne.

Strangest thing is they would have some of the best foot skills on our list (Gov would have the best for someone of his height). Would have thought Simo might have given Tunbridge a few more opportunities.

I think injuries at important times have stopped Tunbridge from being selected. He seems to get injured when someone in the 22 gets injured. I reckon he and College will play a few games before the end of the season.

Slight exaggeration surely?? :D

Sorry pre-season he was sent away from the club from being too fat, that picture is when he lost the weight.
He was never as fat as Tony was, but was very big.
He needs a big pre-season this year to get better next year, and be able to run and chase better.

Bumping an old thread because I don't want to start a new one.

But that was the best performance by an Eagles defender in a final that I can remember. He was impossible to pass back there, 25 touches and 15 marks is stupidly good.

Don't know where it sits in the all time key defender performances in finals, but I haven't seen one better from an Eagle.

Peter Matera's 1992 finals?
