I find his backstory fascinating. A late rookie pick who spent THREE FULL SEASONS on the rookie list without a game, got a 4th year, which is pretty much unprecedented then just randomly bobbed up one year as a marking machine.
IIRC he was too overweight in his first few years which is why he never got a game lol

They did well to keep the faith. But I can't think of any other instance where a rookie has been retained for a 4th year.

Andrew McGovern was on a VHS I had as a kid from Fremantle's inaugural season. Melbourne won the game, but Chris Groom was giving us headaches early on.

McGovern probably more consistent and less prone to brain-fades, but Lake was just brilliant at his best and regularly stood up in big games.

McGovern was amazing tonight though.
And yet the commentators reckoned Marshall was doing a good job, minimising his impact! Not that I blame Marshall, but I wondered what game they were watching.
