The way he was smacking those gums in that Santa vid... id say Alcohol isn't his only issue.
He has always come across as a guy with a dark cloud over his shoulder, even before his horror run of luck last year.
Hope he gets better, cause he could easily piss it all away. Getting off the booze and gear would be a good start.

Hogan is a class player once everything is right just needs time away from the game and a new start to prove himself .
Fremantle shouldn't have to handle him with kid gloves but the next few months they should . The foot injury has taken him away from the game prior to this Hogan was a regular and very good FF for Melbourne a top four team .

Maybe geography and club history mean they are more inclined to take those that other, more established, 'mainstream' clubs would not?

So update on the Herald Sun website says that Peter Bell was actually serious about giving up the chase for Hogan, but CEO Steve Rosich overruled. If Belly hadn't been overruled:
Freo would not have given up pick 6 for Hogan.
Melbourne would not have had pick 6 to get May and Kolodjashnij.
Gold Coast would not have been able to take Ben King (arguably the biggest flight risk of their draftees).
Pick 6 from Freo would have likely been enough to satisfy Geelong for Tim Kelly (even with Kelly not wanting to go there).

Not sure if srs but yeah drugs are insanely common in society, not much different to drinking anymore
Mental health is an absolute bastard which needs to be treated with care and respect, but it's also not a blanket excuse to carry on like a pork chop.
Hogan has issues, but when you sign a big money contract you're doing so in good faith that you can fulfil your end of it, whilst doing your best to deal with those issues.
Clearly, we all hope he gets the help he needs, but it's entirely appropriate to hold him accountable for his actions.
"Poor bugger going through a tough trot" and "flog who's let himself and his new team down" need not be mutually exclusive.

that comparison seems grossly unjustified.
Melbourne dodged a bullet - was apparently begged to go to the B&F... went and was high on gear the whole night (walking out of dunny snorting his nose etc).. bad influence on the younger kids (note a lot of young player delistings)... apparently wants to give away footy so really doesn't care if he plays or not just wants $$$$. I've seen photos of him around the last couple of years zoned out at clubs, passed out under various influences. Hopefully he gets himself sorted out and doesn't end up like Ben Cousins.

you are right. even in the absolute grips of addiction with it all falling apart, cousins still wasn't filmed off his absolute nutter. that only occurred post the suspension from the AFL and his termination from WCE

That is probably because social media and good phone cameras were not prolific 12-13 years ago like now.
Yeah my thoughts as well. Seems way over the top at the moment, hopefully Jesse can get him self right and put this all behind him.
Is that really possible in this day and age? Players used to have weekends off during pre-season etc. Not the case as much now.
If Cuz was doing it in 2019, he would have been filmed every week. Times are different. The AFL probably wouldn't exist if mobiles were around in the 80s
