Getting Jesse Hogan to freo this year IMO should be a massive priority.I believe we can offer our first rounder plus something else to satisfy GWS.

If we can get him, he will have had two pre-seasons of conditioning before he plays AFL,expert guidance from the great man pav and suma too.I'd be confident of Hogan having a really solid debut year under these circumstances.Get it done freo.

Fully agree. But it will be extremely tough to get the winning bid. A lot of clubs will be sniffing.

What I like about the sounds of Hogan as opposed to Shaw is that he seems to have more versatility. Very handy in a KPF, especially if the ball is just not getting into the forward line, or a player is out of form; throw them into the midfield for a burst and see what they can do.

The other thing is that while it may be possible that Shaw could slide to our first rounder it isnot something you can actually plan for. The certainty of the mini-draft selection works for me.

I agree however I think they want someone to play next year so they might not throw everything at it. If they can somehow wrangle a mature KPF (Tom Lee) and get Hogan then bonus.

And that is entirely possible as there is supposedly 1 more previously nominated player pick available.

Anyone who we actually draft as a KPP is unlikely to impact much next year though, and mature players such as Lee typically fall to later picks. From Chris25's posts there are several options.

Agree,mini-draft can be manipulated.

An added benefit of getting Hogan is that he won't take up a spot on this years list. This might allow us to use our later picks in a supposedly deep draft.

What Bogan said. Any insiders get some footage of his work at the carnival? Haven't seen this much hype since JOM. Hope we don't suffer the same outcome.

We have little chance of getting it unless we give away some of the club family jewels. Like a Balla's, Fyfe, Mayne, Hill. Clarke.
Silvagni, Ibbo, Duffield. etc wont cut it.

Demons, GC, Dogs. will probably do a deal for their early picks.

Is it my imagination or does everyone going crazy for a 16 y/o KPF and cooling on a 17 - 18y/o KPF happen every fricken year. Just draft Shaw!

This is true, my preference would be to hope another Mid gets taken at the 2nd minidraft pick and he goes into next years draft - where he drops down, ala. Darling, Kersten, Shaw etc.

ready for us bypass him and to draft another flanker :D

Likely to be the second pick in the mini-draft behind Jack Martin right? Does anybody recall what Adelaide gave up for Crouch, was it just their first rounder or more?

It certainly happened the year we gave Essendon Mathew Lloyd. I really doubt Shaw will get to us, but would happily take him at pick 16. But the mission is to get the most promising KPF available, and the clear word on that is Hogan.

Pick 10 and Davis compo for Crouch and Luke Brown who I think was rated around 20

Hmm, the best we could offer up is pick 16 plus a best 22 player. Would be keen to get access to both Hogan and Lee if we could wrangle that sort of agreement out of GWS.

I don't know what the best we could offer is or how things are valued. I don't expect GWS will pick deep into the draft as they have a stack of early picks. I could see a trade like our 1st rounder + Clarke being attractive to them (I am picking Clarke as possibly the fringe player we have who I think may have the most appeal to them, but we may be able to sell them another player such as Silvagni, Ibbo etc). Very attractive. Now obviously we would not want to lose Clarke, But GWS can give us other things in the trade that do not have any impact on them such as third round draft picks and players like Lee.

We lose; 1st rounder + Clarke

We gain; Hogan, Lee and third rounder

Be better if traded a player which we have a surplus of ,HBFers.
Maybe pick 16+HBFer ?? + moller

Pick 16 and a HBFer isn't going to cut the mustard even with Moller thrown in. We're going to have to offer quality and a first rounder. Clarke and pick 16 is the best package I can think of that doesn't see us overpay.

I don't like the idea of giving away 3 players for a kid who won't play for 18 months also don't think those combinations of fringe players ever works in this situation the Clarke idea seems more realistic.

I feel we're better off keeping Moller and picking a KPP or mid in the 1st round as I think this will help us more with any premiership push next yr.

****, offering Clarke is too risky IMO.Sandi & griffo get injured at the same time we're screwed in the ruck.
