Jesse Hogan(mini-draft)- priority for us

of those, none of them will help us in the forwardline, two a ruckman, anthony and faulks will be lucky to be on our list in 2013, Dawson is a very solid full back and silvagni... well, it would surprise me to see him in other colours next year. our forwardline recruitment has been virtually non-existant. Yes we went after clark... but we didnt get him.

a ten time AA and coleman winner would be optimal.. however at the moment, i would settle for someone above 192 cm's who looks like they would regularly be able to kick 40 goals at AFL level

Like I said, you guys don't want talls, you want Superheroes.

Can you name me a KPF from the past half a dozen or so GF's who has had a meaningful impact on the match?

The match winners/good players have almost exclusively been smalls.

Think about it mate. Do you think that a quality kpf has helped any teams you can think of make the grand final/be in a position to do so recently? Their value is pretty clear cut. Have a look at the Cats Freo final if you aren't convinced, there was a handy one running around in that game.

buddy franklin should have been the norm smith medalist had he kicked straight.
Tom hawkins last year was phenominal in the grand final
Travis cloke the grandy before was more than handy and had an impact as required.

I agree that in the past they havent necessaily had a huge impact, but to get there in the first place, i firmly believe that you need an imposing forward to kick the goals during the season. My theory on key forwards in a GF is that the pressure is so high, that the delivery to them is not as clean, therefore their impact can be limited. That should not result in a key forwards role being undervalued

He works with 50+ guys every day, surely one of them has a teenage sister or friend of the family who wants to make some easy money babysitting every now and then.

Not to mention the simple fact that his partner could stay at home with the children and Mcphee could go to the Doig solo.

at 204cm, i highly doubt that he will be an AFL forward of much repute, he may be able to go forward on the odd occassion. he will not be the answer to our future KPF problems

where is membrey from? i honestly havent even heard the name, would be interested to see what chris thinks of him

How tall is Tippett? I agree though, he will likely only rotate through there.

Think Chris 25 rates him quite highly but again compares him to a Darling type. We might look at someone completely different just throwing a possible name out there. It's day one of a three week trade period and we haven't even been to the draft this year. Bit early for all the doom and gloom for me. Trying to stay positive for now.

Of course they have, but it's not my argument, just a reply. Do you think that quality smalls have helped any teams make/win the GF recently? Which type of player would you say has routinely had more of an impact in GF's recently, or even finals, or even general games?

KPF's are very hit and miss, especially in big games. Sure they can kick a bag and win the game, but they are far more likely to go MIA.

Have a look at the Cats Freo final if you aren't convinced, there was a handy one running around in that game.

Tom Hawkins?

I would have thought that epitomised the argument I am trying to make.[/quote]

This isnt the 80's, 50% of their job is to make a contest so small blokes can have a crack at it. It's why a potato like Dawes still gets a gig in a top 4 team (although he is below par still). They dont need to kick 5 goals to be considered effective.

no. i want a tall palyer who can take a mark in the forward fifty and kick the ball straight enough more often than not to kick it through the big sticks

Great, then take JA, or Silvagni, or Clarke, or Kepler.

Oh right, not up to Pav's standard, need someone better, ok, got it.

Would you be willing to rehash the old days and trade ourselves out of the draft in order to fill this specific need?

from memory tippet is 196cm.

reading that article membrey looks ok. would be a good get by the sounds of it... still would like a pure KPF though in the mould of hogan, shaw or stringer

Ok then, awesome, so which part of bringing the ball to ground can't Clarke or Kepler or Silvagni or JA or Faulks do?

none of those players can take a mark and kick a goal on any form of regular basis. We dont need another pav, although that would be sweet.... id be happy with a guy like schultz even

I did.
Could of got a baby sitter as well, come to think of it.

anyone know the real reason he wasn't there?

I thought it was his thirtieth birthday the day of the B&F. May have had plans. May have gone back to Melbourne to spend it with his family and childhood friends.

Morton is a small KPF or a big small forward in that he isn't mobile and is purely there to kick goals. Goodes rests at full forward hence (half), maybe I should have put Morton as (half) too. My observation still stands.

I think you're trying to sneak the rogue finger in Ghost Pig.

I understand you're trying to make a point, but let's be honest, Reid, Buddy and Gunston where the only KPF's playing.

Wouldn't happen to be a travelling salesman by any chance?
