Autopsy Jesse Hogan - Worth 220 Points

Hackdorn on 6pr this morning saying we will reach a settlement with Jesse and he will never play for us again.

If Jesse doesn't have the structure of a footy club, training and footy mates around him what else is he going to do with his life? If Hackdorn is making things up like he often does fair enough but if there is any truth to it where are the leaks coming from in and around the club.

People tore into Hagdorn when he said the same thing about Harley Bennell but he turned out to be 100% correct that time.

I wish all the very best to Hogan and that he makes a quick recovery. Can’t imagine that this s*#t storm created by Crumpets is doing Hogan any favours. I too love the comments from Ballantyne on Twitter.

It has been 1 whole week (7days) since Peter Bell released a media statement indicating that Hogan needed time away from the club to deal with. Mental health issue and the the club would like to request that Jesse and family’s privacy be respected. We wrap our arms around .... etc.

How on earth is wrapping our arms around Hogan “Announcing his retirement and immediate departure from the club”. Yeh he likes a few too many frothies but let’s give him some time to at least recover. Friggin 6-7 days is all Crumpets could wait.

If it is a long term recovery. Get medical treatment plan from a Psychiatrist and seek approval from AFL to move him onto Long term Injury List.

Yeah or people could start to accept that he actually does have sources and doesn't make everything up.

He's got a way better strike rate than the blinkered fans on this board have, to put it mildly.
Crumpets source is generally Colin Young. With regards to Bennell he had an obvious link but he isn’t exactly a road scholar suggesting Bennell won’t play another game for Freo. Yep he pulled out that Sam Mitchell story but not much else. 6PR loved his work with Willie Rioli pulled at the heartstrings him bawling live on the radio. But that story was already gaining strong momentum over East well before Crumpets radio cry. He generally makes up sensationalised doom and gloom stories to get a reaction based on a bit of rumours and innuendo that’s already been mentioned in dispatches.

Something is going down. My mate works with Ken withers daughter and all he told her was there is a meeting re hogan supposedly today. Wouldnt say more. I don’t think it’s been fabricated.
Ken was my doctor growing up, no way he would talk footy club related stuff to non club people.

The link between the Mitchell and Young story was Ballantyne.
Ballantyne ( young manages Ballantyne) was all but signed with the egirls when they napped Mitchell and could not afford Ballantyne. Young would have been the first person the egirls rang.

Everyone knew was best for Harley to move on by the end.

He also said Longmuir was out the the coaching race?

Don’t think freo would make a decision like this in a week. They will give hogan time to get better

I would have to agree with this. It seems every time something negative in regards to Freo is said then the first response is to insult them with schoolboy tactics. I am not saying I am a fan of KH, but I am saying that he does get some things right, or generally in the right scope, and of course he gets some things wrong, but that is expected.

Bigfooty is all about speculation and predictions, and reviews etc. So is his job. He gets paid to do this, and like it or not he does a lot of work behind the scenes, and does not release things without adequate information. Was it needed to state "he will not play another game for Freo". I would say this does him no favors with the fans.

Saying that, KH's prediction it is not that outrageous, it makes a fair bit of sense. Drugs have no place in AFL clubs, and us Freo supporters threw enough stones at the mob up the road over the years, and we should know better than to take a defensive stance at all costs, as it is very serious in protecting our identity and future, and retaining players, and attracting them.

I am going to wait and see what the club releases officially on this. No news is not good IMO, as if there was nothing in it, they would have squashed it by now. This does not appear to be the case. Like it not Hagdorn spoke up on it and there is "something" to it.

Duff just put up an article about Freo and Dover rejecting the speculation.

Clearly they are working through some difficult things and want what is best for Jesse and the club.

Some idiot that the club administration, coaches, players and player managers all seem to despise suggesting they want to push him out the door does not help in situations like these.

We have been totally screwed over and why am I not surprised!

Gary Lyon and his media mates putting pressure on us to do the deal when they were knew full well what was going on.

I would have liked a Ben King about now.

I put this on the media page but thought it was interesting Walls didn’t mention Hogan in our spine. May make more sense now.

Holy moly, I though we had hired Ricky Gervais for a sec!

Well that’s sealed it then. 🤪 You don’t think he goes home and speaks to his family? And as I said he wouldn’t talk about this even to them. Mate I met Lyon and he opened up to me like a picture book. Yeh sure, anything private and confidential no doubt, doctors are obligated to. I’ll take my mates word over yours thanks.

The immediate playing future of Fremantle forward Jesse Hogan remains clouded, with no timeline set for his return to training a week on from taking time off to deal with a mental health issue.

Neither the Dockers nor Hogan’s manager Jason Dover were prepared to buy into speculation aired today that Hogan has played his last game for the Dockers.

Fremantle referred media enquiries about the speculation to its original statement announcing Hogan’s leave a week ago when it pledged to provide “all the necessary and ongoing care and support” Hogan needed.

The statement, from football manager Peter Bell also asked that Hogan’s privacy be respected.

“We believe it is the most appropriate course of action and, more importantly, it is what is best for Jesse’s long-term health and wellbeing,” Bell had said.

It is understood that Hogan went surfing with friends at the weekend.

The West Australian understands that the club’s priority in the short term will be to give Hogan time, space and support.

He is not expected back at the club in the next few weeks.

Hogan was recruited from Melbourne at the end of the 2018 season for draft picks six and 23 on a three-year deal believed to be worth about $2 million.

He had played 71 games for the Demons over four seasons and kicked 152 goals.

He kicked 13 goals in 12 games for the Dockers last year before a second navicular fracture in his foot prematurely ended his season.

To be honest I am no less concerned after reading that then I was before today. He sounds a million miles away from playing

Everyone knew was best for Harley to move on by the end.

Yeah except Hagdorn said this about a year before it happened and everyone here pretended like it was utterly ridiculous. But he was spot on.

It's not a hugely long bow to draw that when a club says something like "he's taking a break indefinitely" then things are very, very bad. How many players have taken an "indefinite break" from the game and then ever come back?

Testing for illicit recreational drugs is an absolute joke in the AFL.

I have no comment on Hogan beyond the usual scuttlebutt of him being on the gear but I can personally attest to witnessing players loving the nose candy and some of the older ones going a bit harder

Admittedly it is usually off season so I’m assuming it is slightly more lax but it would take gross incompetence to get done for taking some nose candy.

I mean it's 2020, everyone is on it nowadays, AFL players are not the only ones.

Most players manage to avoid getting caught though.

Not just a situation like say Glenn Maxwell?

I actually think this shows how much AFL fans need to grow up.

Whenever AFL players have time off for mental health it’s drugs, their career is over and they don’t give a **** etc.

Only once have I seen an AFL player take time for mental health and it not been questioned by the above. That was Majak Daw who is quite frankly lucky to be alive.

When a cricket player does the same thing no one questions it. Maxwell isn’t the only one - Maddinson and Pucovski did the same thing.

I honestly just wish someone would eliminate Hagdorn from the equation. The world would be a better place for it.
