What a pathetic mess. Culture hey. So important. Hence why we haven’t won a flag. Pick 6 for Hogan then two years later, without giving chances, he’s gone. That’s rating Langdon as Hogan. Useless
No chances? Really? He had like 4 incidents in his two years plus however many we don't know about.

And he openly apologised when he left. What more do you need?

Bell looks less than impressed about this... when I take into account Jesse's effusively apologetic statement to the fans I'm getting the overwhelming gut feeling that Jesse and his management have not acted in good faith here.

May have bent the club over with the mental health card and offered the club a trade me or watch me sit the year out and burn the TPP.

Bell’s an idiot.
They tried to play hard ball with Hogan. It backfired. He knows Key forwards are worth their weight in gold. This trade period hard to come by for forwards and Hogan took it.

Not having a dig but I dont understand what you're saying at all here... it seems to me that Hogan wanted out and we couldnt have been more accomodating in facilitating that?

Whether the blame is on Bell, Rosich, Ross whoever its all irrelevant now. He was the last of the black sheep at the club. Yeah the ROI is trash but what's done is done.

Based on last years progression mainly without Jesse its onwards and upwards from here.

Should’ve kept him, see what happens then give him away for free. That’s essentially what this trade is.
Problem there is we would have triggered an extension clause and we would have had the bloke for another 2 or 3 seasons. Just rotting.

My take is we paid too much for the bloke. But, cognisant of the risk, we gave him a contract that was all about performance with an extension clause that presumably would have benefited both parties; ie, if Hoges was playing well, he gets to stay and we get a bloke who is playing well. He didn't perform, so we killed the contract before it got good for Hogan (ie, the extension trigger).

We gambled and we lost, but this time we hedged our bets and minimised the real damage.

People gamble on flakey power forwards. They are the main source of football hope.

I'd rather we weren't so keen on rolling the dice, but I would be lying if I didn't get a little giddy and excited when we snagged the bloke.

If Fyfe, Lobb and Taberner are in the same forward line then either Fyfe gets the 3rd defender or the 3rd defender is on the 207cm Lobb. Either way it looks pretty good for Fremantle.

I think they'll look to split Fyfe around 60/40 Mid/Forward next year. Mundy and Walters will probably be around 70/30 Forward/Mid. If Cerra, Tucker, Brayshaw and Serong improve at a similar level as they did last summer we have plenty of options.
That’s double what he played there this season, and it seemed the sky was falling in when he played there, the rest of the team would have to improve a lot

About as silly as a spoilt tosser blaming mental illness for poor behaviours
**** me. Mental illness DOES cause poor behaviour and behavioural choices. It can be all-pervasive and seriously impede sound judgement. Not in all cases, but in many.

It doesn’t discriminate between spoilt tossers, white collar workers, politicians, forklift drivers, farmers, whoever...

You have continually dismissed his mental illness as an excuse or a front. It’s not.
If the club moved him on solely because of his mental health issues, that is an absolute disgrace, and they should drown in a bucket of their own shame.

There’s clearly A LOT more at play, and his mental health would just be a part of why the decision was made. Maybe his poor mental health is a large part of the reason surrounding his poor choices, but I would hope that this decision has been made in conjunction with (more than one) psychologists and social workers, mapping out a plan that has most chance of helping him in the long run.

Moving him on is clearly the best decision for both Jesse and the club. I hope, for his sake, he can get his life on track and deal with his issues. My gut feeling is it’ll be really really hard, but mental illness is real, it’s not an excuse.

Sometimes a person’s well-being comes down to more than pick 54 in a footy draft.

1. I think Cerra is a completely different story this looks like we pushed Hogan out. Cerra would be more like a Weller or Neale situation.
2. We can afford to pay Cerra more with the extra cap space we may re-sign him and Brayshaw next year with the extra $$.
I do believe Cerra will leave though

Bell came out and said he had done his due diligence and they wouldn't be taking him. Clearly got over ruled by someone else at the club. We should be grateful GWS have taken him. Bell and JLo are the best things to happen to Freo.

years of disappointment - have never felt he was ours forever. I hope I'm right! the gossip journos have been pretty accurate lately
It was only Rendell saying Freo should trade Cerra. I don't think there is any other rumours

Fremantle should send Adam Cerra and a raft of draft picks to North Melbourne to secure "generational" WA forward Logan McDonald, former top AFL recruiter Matt Rendell says.

The Kangaroos currently hold pick two in the upcoming AFL Draft behind Adelaide, who are preparing to take South Australian big man Riley Thilthorpe with the prized top pick.

Rendell rates McDonald as the next man to go in the AFL Draft and says the Dockers need to trade away a big hand to nab the Perth Demons forward.
