Agree.

I could see something like:

Freo: In Hogan, Out Pick 5
Adelaide: In Pick 5, Out Lever, Pick 36
Melbourne: In Lever, Pick 36, Out Hogan

Equates Lever to approximately pick 10

That's if anything is to happen this year.

**** that's a terrible trade for Melbourne. Lose a key forward for a 3rd up defender fmd

WELL COLOUR ME SURPRISED WA MEDIA PEDDLING STORIES ABOUT WA PLAYERS COMING HOME

Last year the WA media was CONVINCED he would come home yet he signed an extension. His mother moved to Melbourne this year and it would make zero sense for us to be trading watts if Jesse is also on the way out.

sshhh, don't let the facts get in the way of another Freo wet dream ;)

We'll see in a few weeks. I don't think he'll come but the WA media are running with it and I can see the reasons for it.

I doubt he's on the move but I do enjoy hypotheticals

Adelaide lose: Jake Lever
Adelaide gain: Pick 5

Fremantle lose: Pick 5, 2018 1st round pick
Fremantle gain: Jesse Hogan, Pick 27

Melbourne lose: Jesse Hogan, Pick 27
Melbourne get: Jake Lever, 2018 1st round pick (Freo)

And like the crows you’ll never get Hogan .

So be it. As long as he's playing football after what he's been through I'd be more than happy for him to retire a one club player. Whatever is best for Hogan

Hogan with two years left on his contract for pick 5 or an uncontracted Jake Lever?

Yeah, nah.

No disrespect to Jake Lever, but when he's the biggest fish being discussed for potential trade it's little wonder the media are turning their heads to the perennial discussion of Jesse Hogan.

Footy followers have an insatiable desire to hear snippets of trade info and Jesse is a reliable fall back position in a trade period that has yet to produce anything of substance.

To sums things up:

Jesse is contracted until the end of 2019

Jesse has had a mare 2017 due to personal grief and injury, which has fuelled speculation of a return home.

Freo haven't ruled out making a play, but won't make a play until they know if Jesse wants a return to Perth

Yeah, nah.

Could Freo part with 2 x 1st round picks for Hogan?

I reckon it's a chance. Pick 5 would have to bring the Lever trade back to 1 x 1st round pick.

Pick 5 & 27 for Lever, keep pick 10 and pocket next years 1st round Freo pick. Nice outcome.

Freo would jump at 2 first rounders for Hogan. Melbourne won't be the slightest bit interested unless of course Hogan is seeking to get back to WA. Which I don't think he is.

Melbourne would never give Hogan for pick 5 alone. The price would be Freo's 2 first round picks minimum.

Pick 5, 2018 2nd round pick & Balic?

5 & 27 for Lever to the Crows

This means:

In: Lever, Balic, 2018 2nd round (~25)
Out: Hogan, pick 27

I assume pick ~25 in next years draft would be weighted around pick 12-15 this year.

We would want more from Freo for Hogan. Two first round picks minimum. We have him under contract and there is no need for us to trade him cheaply.

Lever may be viewed by some as a better player, but he is out of contract, so he is worth a lot less.

I agree on the relative value to Lever, but not on more than 2 x 1st round picks.

If Hogan has another flat year, his value will halve by the end of next season. If he intimates a return to W.A. one day, then now is probably the best time for the Dees to strike.

I'd rather cop nothing in two years. Not only is Jesse one of the best young key forwards in the comp, he's our only key forward. He's required at Melbourne.
