Jesse Smith

I think that Smith is a talented prospect but I'd much rather have Jones at the bottom of the packs constantly than Smith lurking around the half back line.

Whats worth getting the ball out when you havent got anyone to give it to or kick to.

Jesse will be a good player but i think pendles and selwood has him covered but jones is a run of a mill footballer but just stood out this year in a crappy side.

Settle Grettle. They'll both be alright and both should improve.
Jones seemed to do alright when he joined a finals team last year. Managed two rising star awards in his first two years playing AFL. Not too bad.
Is it too hard to admit that at this point of their careers Jones is ahead?

So you're suggesting that Jones should just stand around doing nothing and not even bother because our forward line isn't amazing at the moment?

how can shaun higgins not get a mention in this thread? hes easily up there with pendlebury and selwood and if hurn can get a mention... then higgins should get one.

and higgins is better than smith any day of the week just for the record

Fair call, I'll pay that

Of course you would, you're another Melbourne d*ckhead. "Just another half back flanker"? Clearly you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. He will be a midfielder, go through and read this thread and watch some footy and you might realize that you kn*b. Didn't watch the Roos V Hawks Semi this year? Obviously not.

Jesus dude calm down. Take some panadol or something.

Yeh, he played well against the Hawks. Point?

Have you seen the games Jones has played brilliantly in? Obviously not. From a neutral perspective Jones is clearly ahead of Smith. CLEARLY.

And he does play half back flank. That much is obvious. He's played nearly all this year off the HBF.

Buddy there is a difference.

SMITH = F/S (akka top 10 pick) - MORAN = Project player with potential. Get with it.

Oh yeh - ask smiths old man. He's on your coaching panel.

I will spell it out slowly for you D O N T over rate young players. I'm pretty sure Zebra did it with Wells and he definitely did it with Moran.

Settle. One game doesn't make a player does it? Just ask Mark McGough...

Chances are he'll probably move into the midfield, nonetheless, in comparison to most names mentioned in this thread he hasn't quite shown as much. Just goes to show that the likes of Selwood, Pendlebury and Jones all started in the engine room this year whilst Smith played off halfback.

Probably will be a good player, but not as good as those.

Sook

I never said anything about Jones you idiot. Why the hell are you raving on about his brilliant games? That was one example anyway, and it is a great sign that Smith can stand up in big games. Smith and Jones both averaged 17 disposals this year, "CLEARLY"? - I don't think so, especially considering Smith has much better disposal and much more class. Was responding to CaptainDavey saying its a fair call to rate Higgins above Smith. But tell me what side would take Higgins over Smith?
Work out what I'm talking about before responding next time.

Sook

As i just said, the Semi was just an example, one that proves Smith can stand up when it counts. Not being a sook, you said he is just another half back flanker, when he is and will be a midfielder. He leaves Jones for dead in all but the clearance/hard ball get side of the game, because that's not the type of player he is. I'd probably rate Pendlebury as the highest, because it is hard to judge Selwood as he had such brilliant support this year, and Jones would've shined more-so in a sh*thouse side than any other obviously. Smith has had f*cked ankles, he still hasn't even played a full year.

The kid was best on ground in a final in his first full game of playing on the ball.

BOG in a final>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>NAB Rising Star award.

If he plays the majority of his matches in defence next year, Laidley should be dragged out into Arden Street and shot in the back of the head.

He will go on to be a multiple AA, top 10 player.

One was getting cheap disposals on the HBF and one was getting them right in the guts.

Kicking the ball off the ground out of a pack?

It is far easier to amass possesions at clearances than collect them AFTER you have first been accountable for an opponent.

FAR EASIER!

This would have to be one of the stupidest things ever written on bigfooty. And that is saying something

Will be a deadset gun, our best player in two or three years, and will move into the midfield next season.
To do what he did this season after the injury he had last season and a limited pre-season this year was extraordinary.
Barring more injury concerns, will be better than most who finished above him in the Rising Star, simply because he has massive scope for improvement.

Will be a player, but not even half as good as kangaroo fans say he will be

If he continues to knock you blokes out of the premiership race with BOG performances, I'm happy for him to continue his meteoric rise and you to deny the evidence before you.

Has skinny ankles.

A decent player is Jesse Smith. It's just a pity he's playing for an ordinary club.

No matter how good Smith was in the semi against Hawthorn he would never get best on ground, that honour was reserved for Rosebury. Umpiring right up there in the best tradition of Goldspink.
