It's a pretty shameful situation, especially considering North are about to unveil their new state of the art facilities.
I suppose he's gotten to the stage where he feels he needs a 'fresh start.'

Bitter much?

That's understandable IMO.
But the way he's gone about it, geez.
Also, counterproductive in it would make other clubs think 'Hang on, do we really want this bloke around our club'?
That's true, especially if the rumours about his laziness and lack of dedication towards his rehab are accurate.
Though a new start could be the perfect remedy, at least mentally which is probably more important at this stage (if those rumours are true).
Jesse Smith is an ungrateful ****head who should be locked in a room with Glen Archer and no witnesses.
Not rumours. On one occasion an assistant coach had to go to his house and get him off the coach to come to a compulsory training session.
Obviously Laidley was bending over backwards for his players.Maybe thats why he is leaving, Maybe Brad Scott was going to allow Jesse on top of him?Obviously Laidley was bending over backwards for his players.

I'm informed that offers made for Smith during trade week were for picks we wouldn't have used (last pick is 53). In other words, no serious interest from other clubs even though picks were traded thick and fast. In that case I'm happy the club didn't trade him.
I think it also says a lot about what other clubs think about the likelihood of him getting on the park on a consistent basis. Looks like he may end up being another Egan, Snell, etc.
I suspect he'll get picked up by someone but it will be on less money and possibly not for two years (which North offered).
' at people questioning North's medical facilities and staff....Smith said the lack of full-time medical staff had influenced his decision to look elsewhere
Smith's manager, Liam Pickering, said yesterday the Kangaroos did not have the right "tools" for his client's rehabilitation.
...
"It's a critical year for his career and he doesn't think, after two years of frustration with his ankle and hamstring (injuries), that North is the right spot for him right now," Pickering said on SEN.
Very late ND pick or pre season pick. He may be a very talented player but he is a big risk. I think either Geelong or Collingwood will take him.
I'd be happy to take him if he's happy to come for low $$$ ala Drum.
If he's still there at 56 I bet we'll take him.
