Universal Love JESSE WHITE

While Cloke was again held goalless, it was White who picked up the slack. He's been an excellent pick up for Collingwood and is getting better and better with each passing game. What I like about White is he can compete well, brings the ball to ground, takes a good defender (which stops teams from double teaming Cloke as often) and is quite mobile for a player of his size. If he can stay fit for the rest of the season he will be a huge asset in the finals for Collingwood.

A good comparison would be Hawthorn's recruitment of Gunston. Both were undervalued and both are much better now at their new teams.
I know it's a bit early but so far White has been an outstanding pickup and came to us for very little in draft terms. To pick up a ready made key forward with his freakish ability at ground level for a second round pick is a bargain by any standard.

The one thing I keep laughing about after every game is that he's exactly the type of player that Carlton need yet they didn't even try and get him.

Can't wait till he smashes their piss weak backline next week.

We now have a proper two prong tall forward line, and soon will have a third (Reid).

I thought Ben Reid was the best player they could get! :) They need a new defence and forward line imo

And when that pick is in the 40's it's even better!

Really pleased to see him doing well for you guys.

It was frustrating watching such a talent not reach his potential for so long but you could tell last season he'd finally turned the corner and was ready to produce consistently.

I'm glad he's made a go of it, even if it is for another team.

Hopefully bucks keeps him as a permanent forward where his best footys always been played.

Love Jesse and can't wait to see the Cloke-Reid-White combo after the bye round.

If he can kick 40-50 goals for the season then that's a fantastic return. So mobile for a big lad. He's as quick as the little blokes when the ball hits the deck. A great asset to have.

To be honest 40-50 goals is a big ask, hes on his way to kick 30+ and that is/would be a great inclusion to our side.

The funny thing is if the brilliant list managers down at Adelaide decided to take White for free they would all be laughing at Sydney saying how much better White is than Tippett..

The G-CREW? Dunno. Wouldn't mind a gun forward pocket with a surname starting with L then we can be CREWL (spelling can suck it)

Allowing for Sidey and Swanny spending a lot of time forward makes it interesting. Or instead of Goldberg, just refer to him as Sack, same result.

Anyone hear triple m when Gary lyon suggested white could be the 10th most important player on the ground and was shot down by dunstall and worst of all, the piss ant damian barrett just dismissed it as crap.

It's not going to work, White isn't a ruck and we need Reid's foot skills down back.

White was a number 1 ruckman for half of 2009, and a key forward for the other half. He wont be a star but he will be better than any other backup ruckman we have had in the past.

He cant play in the ruck, just ask any Sydney supporter or better yet ask every club in the AFL, they all use two ruckman because it works. Witts has done enough to hold his spot in the side and will only get better.

2 a week will get him to 40 goals. He's more than capable of kicking a few bags along the way too. Only thing that may hinder his goal kicking is if he starts playing back up ruck. For mine, I want him to stay as a permanent forward.

He can play in the ruck, he clearly has in the past. Witts has been okay but he has offered us next to nothing in the forward line and when you play 2 ruckman you want atleast 1 of them averaging a goal a game.

We won the hitouts to advantage against Essendon, White kicked 2 goals, enough said.

White won't offer us nearly the same output if made a second ruck. IMO, he's a permanent forward who will have issues being forced to second ruck.

The proposition being made is that Reid's ability to goal will outstrip White's, and White's performance as a second ruck up forward will be better than Witts. Now that goal scoring potential is going to be weighed against the increased workload and ruck performance expectation on Grundy and his #2 during matches and how these changes affect the structure of the team.

White will be hoping to score a goal a game as second ruck. If he can end up with 20-25 goals this season without getting embarrassed in the ruck and around the ground, we'd be pretty happy.

White/Cloke/Reid is the structure the team has trained around all summer. And at the moment, I wouldn't drop either Frost or Keeffe. Neither deserve it and with Brown waiting in the wings already, Reid will have to tear apart VFL games for it to happen.

With the +1 in the back half now, we could probably put him back there without worrying about Reid's ordinary 2013 as a CHB (where he was well behind Brown for most of the year), or we could even try and get Reid to play Maxwell's role in order to preserve what we have now. It would allow for crafty swingman manoeuvres if there's an injury or substitution but again, that'd require some time in the VFL to get up to speed and demonstrate form since Maxy and Keeffe are going alright. Not to mention that'd require a re-jig of the game plan mid season.
